Just finished this custom order for a Firebird. I did the feathers on the sides differently...I think I like it better than the original.The mask is carved out of one piece of 8oz leather, three times the thickness of most Venetian-style leather masks. This allows me to carve the leather deeply, but requires me to shape the entire sculpture by hand with no use of molds or armatures. It is painted with colorfast Liquitex acrylic paints.

VERY pretty! I do believe, as difficult as it might be to believe possible, that you've outdone yourself on this one. The design is gorgeous, and the little gold touches on the top of each feather makes the whole thing even better.

Superb! I love how you opted on a simplistic design that can convey the mass amount of crest and feathers [and fire], as opposed to over decorating and detailing that most people do. At a glance, you KNOW what this mask represents. Also, I love your use of the metallic/iridescent paints... you have a natural design eye that lets you put the right amount- never too little or too much!

Oh my goodness! I love the sharpness the beak looks. Very much like the strong proud yet elegant phoenix. I love how the feathers are kind of shaped in a way that it looks like sun rays! Very neat! Also the gold on every feather on the face is a good touch! Another kudos for a great mask~!
