Really? I never would've considered that. Not consciously, no, but I've been playing FF since 1990 so it's not unlikely. Can't say I'm much of a Square Enix fan, though.

Well i think its the sephirothness of the hair and the clothes reminded me of clouds, FF inspired a lot of my earlier works and I saw a resemblence XD (Though your art is amazing and you certainly have a lot of talent

When I think Square Enix I think of like, crazy overly designed outfits circa FF10 and on, whereas FF7 was developed back when it was just Square and things were a bit more tame and less... flashy. That and 2004 was 7 years too late for the inspiration to still be with me, I think. But I like hearing how others see my art. I never would've thought of Sephiroth, I guess because the character has such a kind un-Sephiroth-like personality. Anyway. I could talk videogames forever. >)

Yes. By chance I was looking at the 1994 games and such in a hopes I might be tempted into buying some again, and the games were definately less flashy, I want to get FF XII-2 for xbox (no ps3 in the house :/) but the names snow, lightning and hope really do put me off. It feels li[link] the characters were designed by children with names like that. Yeah I think its JUST the hair from the old arts that reminds me of seph but regardless of FF the improvements you have made are so brilliant and I do deeply respect any artist that can improve so much in, a relatively short amount of time. I've admired your art for a while (never thought to watch you, which is weird XD) and it's nice to see where you /kind of/ began.

I never got around to finishing FF13. I got it right around the time I had a baby, plus I couldn't seem to get into the battle system and found it kind of boring.. but I did actually like the characters so I'd like to pick it up again. And I imagine I'll get the second one at some point too, because I can't seem to not buy a FF game.
I've been trying to get back into drawing. Is taking a while and some days are better than others... but I'll get there eventually. Just gotta draw every day and stick to it! I'm sure I'd be a lot better by now if I hadn't stopped for so long.

You have a really elegant style that's simple but effective at illustrating features and unique characteristics of design. I also adore the balance you've mastered of clean black line art and soft, subtle colouring. I've spent many hours staring at your pictures to try to figure out how to improve my own work. Huge change/improvement! I've always been impressed with your work and I especially love the change in eyes. I think that the character seems more vivid in the second than in the first. It seems that there's a more definite image now than there was before. The lines are more definite, as though it was based on a standing image as opposed to gathering pieces as you go along, creating as you draw.
In any case, lovely as usual ♥

There's worlds more confidence in your newer one, everything is much more solid! The older one is on the anime-copy-cat-ish side, but you've definitely developed it into something that is yours, and quite adorable in a not-stereotypically-adorable way.

I like the new hair and love the new wings, Nice detail and a very good improvment. Nothing wrong with him looking kind of femine but if you want to change that try giving him a little stronger of a jaw and give his arms and chest a hint of musce (you dont have to make him look iorn man worth maybe something more slender that fits with his body, like a male dancer). You have also gotten better with the shading and the nose looks alot better now and the eyes too. Your new drawing shows alot more of your characters soul

mm, I draw a lot of androgynous people, boys and girls--with girls they end up being tomboys haha. I guess it's just something I'm partial to, something I do by default that I'm not really conscious of. I know that if I am conscious of it that I can draw guys that can at least be distinguished as guys, even if they're not super masculine, heh~ But thank you for your tips and for your kind feedback. The way I see it, the biggest difference lies in the mental image. The newer one is lot more forth coming, and well defined in terms of character. It also makes me feel that the artist is more confident and comfortable with themselves. The newer one defintely shows a more mature mind set. The older one has sort of an uncertainty, in a way that the painter chooses to observe and keep most things to themselves. In contrast, the with the newer one artist seem to be more expressive and determined about what he/she wanted to do.
Lol, just my interpretation. I have no idea how much it hit the mark; But one thing I am sure of, is that everything is changing in a good way.

Ooh, that really got me thinking. I don't usually think that deeply into why I do things, but that sounds pretty accurate. I guess another way to put it is that I can more easily 'see' the characters in my head now and represent them accordingly through drawings. I am more sure of myself in what I want them to look like and what their style of clothing would be, etc. My sense of design for clothing still needs a lot of work, though! I think, too, that I'm starting to understand spacial depth more in my drawings, though that also needs practice. I feel my drawings are too flat most of the time and I need to work more on my perspective and such.

I see allot of improvement in all your artwork (I remember your other alias and that website you had.) Problem is that people are so adapted to "basic anime styles" that they kind of get "blind" I guess. The character of 2011 has a more developed individual style.

The folds of the cloth are more detailed and so is the hair.
The nose's angle looks more correct
You added more detail to his lips.
The anatomy improved.
And the wings look (as user Paddd said) more eerie.
