Who's Red?
*facepalms* He's the game character - the one you play in Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow, and Firered/Leafgreen. You can fight him in Gold/Silver/Crystal and Heartgold/Soulsilver, he has a level 88 Pikachu and is one of the hardest trainers in-game.
This is the Manga Red - who features in Pokemon Special/Adventures, a manga adaption for the Pokemon Game series (which actually came BEFORE THE ANIME).

Of course Red is better than ash, but thats what the fanbase and games made him out to be(Minus Magna, thats some good shit)

I think there are two Ashs in the anime:- The one from Diamond and Pearl and XY/XYZ that is 18-21 years and actually knows what he is doing, and the Original Series/Black and White 10 year one who doesn't have a clue what to do and is very annoying. The Diamond & Pearl and XY/XYZ Ash might not be as good as Red, but he isn't that bad. Anyone else agrees?

Ash beats a fire type pokemon with another fire type, then will lose to a grass type. Red for example is better at battling cuz he has a level 80 team and is an ass kicker but Ash is pretty dumb.

He overcame a handicap and accomplished in just over sixteen days (not just from sunrise to sunset, he went on for more than 384 consecutive hours) what Ash couldn't do in sixteen years.

Same character. Different names. In Pokemon Red it gives you an option to name the Pokemon Trainer Red, Ash, or Jack.
But I agree (in my opinion) that Red in the Pokemon Adventure manga is better than Ash in the Anime. And Red is more closer to the games than Ash.

I find both characters different, both with ups and downs. I can't like or dislike the other.
Ash is young and stupid, the anime is also too sweet and for children's eyes, so it HAS to be cutesy and drama free. So he can't harden into someone who knows what the real world is like. He is our innocent side, he's supposed to be stupid, following his dreams blindly.
Red was young and stupid, but because the manga.game actually put drama and tragedy into the story line, he grew up and became hardened and an adult. Our mature side, he's supposed to show us that hardships will overcome life, but you have to push through in order to overcome those hardships.
Just my opinion.
