I was wondering if you take commissions on these vambraces? If so what would the price be around? And I totally understand if you do not take commissions, I just truly love your work! Or if you know some tutorial I could take a look at would be much appreciated! Love your work!

unfortunately i do not have a tutorial. I do accept commissions, although at the moment i am really only accepting about one at a time. I currently changed jobs and am working about 60hrs+ a week, 7 days a week. if you are interested, send me a message through here or through etsy as that pops up on my phone... or at least it used to

does the right hand one hinder your arm/hand mobility?

neither of them do. the one with the designs is constructed like shoulder armor so it can move with your wrist up and down.

i didnt have a sewing machine when i made these. also dont have the money for one to handle full on leather projects. the rivets were to try to get it to look as closely as the pics in the game.
for the tooled panels the designs are stamped in by hand after being cut by hand as well. i use little itty bitty tools prob no more than 1/8" in size to stamp the design creating the ridges in the piece. and making a press may work in the future but it takes some time and a lot of money to create any kind of die, and i need to learn how to cast first. so possible down the road. but for right now its the traditional method and the long hard way.
as far as the sealer, satin shene works fine. i dont like using strictly paint becasue it is a surface application only. dye is better as it actually penetrates the leather. (also wasnt using rawhide, thats for drums) and dyes are pretty snazy now. i just got a silver i can mix with colors. but the reason i dry brushed this was to achieve a certain look on the overall piece.

this is pretty awesome; i must say. About the overall piece - I think it would be more stable if you managed to stitch some of the straps - I know an industrial sewing machine (turning the wheel by hand/ instead of by pedal) will slowly get the job done - that might help take stress off the rivets.
for the decorated parts of the vambrace on the top - the panels/ did you hand punch the designs into the rawhide or did you have a stamp/press made?
also - how well does the satin sealer hold the dye/ and why not just use paint with the sealer? Paint might allow you to rub in other metal colors for a more 'aged metallic' feel but i dunno how that might hold on rawhide. Anyway - fantastic job it looks spectacular

Awesome work! Got me all fired up to attempt my own project!
However my leather working skills are laughable. Is there anything you used to get you started in terms of reading / visual material when it came down to techniques etc?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

honestly this was one of my first projects.... i think i made it about 3 months into my attempt at leather working. al stholman's building cases vol 1 and 2, give really good solid construction info on leatherwork. tandy sells them at $20 each. a few good tools. and a good plan first. making stuff out of paper helps and i spend a lot of time sketching before i ever cut anything.

i didnt use any metal in the construction besides the rivets. the left vambrace is leather painted to look like metal though
