Description A character study of Rand al'Thor from the Wheel of Time books. I've had these books on my shelf for a while, decided I'd start reading them hoping to finish the series by the time the 14th (?)book will be released. That should take some time, considering I've just started the third book and I hear the series tends to 'drag-on' at certain points

That Blind Guardian album is to blame as well :/ I had other books to finish before I tackled this.

Anyhow, no spoilers

This was half digital and half traditional, had no idea where to submit it :/

For those speculating, Robert Jordan wrote books 1 - 11 of The Wheel of Time. Brandon Sanderson was hand-picked by Jordan's wife and editor to complete the series, which was books 12 - 14. Book 14 was released in January 2013. I'm doing my final read of the series - one last hurrah before I find out what happens - and I stumbled across this artwork. Love it, looks like a young Rand, how I picture him in The Eye of the World.

Oh, and the story didn't die with Robert Jordan. Sanderson has completed the series based on the copious notes left by Jordan, and the final scene was written by Robert Jordan himself. So it ends the way it was intended.

I love the series. I might make my next tattoo WoT related.

Thank you! I'm going to get around to drawing Mat(and perrin) too eventually. So many characters to draaaw! A WoT tattoo sounds awesome!

I never did finish that series - I think I made it to about book five or six before I stopped. Anyhow, it looks really good! I definitely like your version better than the ones on the covers.

You're welcome! Yeah, I don't really like leaving series' unfinished, either. The remaining books are still on my list of 'books to read someday', but that's a pretty long list.

Oooh, update! My goodness, these used to be my favorite books when I was younger, and I really should continue them now that the always amazing Brandon Sanderson has picked up the writing reins. Blind Guardian has a song about WoT now?

Also, I love Rand in your style! This comes closer to the way I see him than the cover art does. *shudders at the cover art*

Rand Al'Thor art from ye! As much as I still feel like slapping this guy across the face three times, he looks SUPER nice in your style~! *____* He actually looks super good! Whenever I read the books, I always imagined him looking something like so, but.... the traumatically non-hottie looking Rand Al'Thors on the cover almost always disturbed me vision. X'D

I was reading these back in the time we were in college. Did I try to lump these upon ye too, then? Since back then, the books were only available till the 9th, and the 10th and 11th came out so very slowly, I kind of lost the flow (as well as the love for certain characters, as their actions cheesed me off greatly X'D). Annnnd.... still haven't read the latest ones. I keep thinking that I ought to perhaps restart from the beginning? Seeing your fanarts, I think I shall~! Soon~! I think I have kind of forgotten almost all the earlier (and even latter?) events.

Tacky book cover Rand has grown on me actually, I really like the cover of the third book in all it's eighties tackiness. Reaching out for the *forgot name already*... epic flaming sword! with tacky un-Perrin gawking.

I think you mentioned the WoT books? But you didn't lump 'em on me. Just the Sword of Shannara and the two Terry Pratchett books which I was delighted to be lumped with! Speaking of Pratchett, I think reading the Thief of Time sent me in this direction?

I rememeber trying to read the Wheel of Time books in highschool because one of my friends was SO INTO THEM OMG but ...after that 50 page prologue in the firstbook, I was so bored that I fell asleep durring the first chapter and never read another word more. x.x Props to you for making it to the THIRD book! XD

It does start out in a notoriously ho-hum manner, and a lot of characters got on my nerves(they still do~) but I stuck to it and very gradually the clicheness started giving way to interesting twists. Let's see if I can keep it up 8D.

Yep, that's how it is, although I'm too lazy to find out which book was his last (the sixth?). I hate it when writers die along with all their stories in their heads .

Yeah, it's something, can't wait to read them all! Just hope I don't get stuck, I've heard of so many people dropping the series at some point or another!
