How would you do the back stories of the Red Lotus gang if you had the chance? You know, Zaheer, P'Li, Ming-Hua and Ghazan.

Sooner or later I'll have to, won't I?
Presently, I don't know that much of the characters. only that as a team they represent one of each of the four elements,
AND, that they once tried to capture Korra shortly after she was discovered to be the Avatar
(which was when she was FOUR years old, as those who watched the very first episode may no doubt remember.
In fact, THEY were the very reason Korra was confined in a White Lotus compound in the first place.)
I also know that Zaheer and P'Li are romantically involved (such a shame that her head exploded, and he had to watch)
and, Ming-Hue broke the rule on: "No Limbs means No Bending" with those water tendril arms of hers
(her combat style is not unlike Chaos 0 and Clayface.)
The Red Lotus themselves are also similar to "The League of Assassins" that Ra's al Guul leads.
as they commit these unspeakable acts of violence, chaos and murder. YET, they believe they are doing what is right for everything.
(all things considered, I wouldn't be surprised if Magnum encountered a variation of the Red Lotus Society in his lifetime.)

What would be the Red Lotus in Magnum's lifetime? Who would be its members? Do some of each of the members have close connections to some people we know today in Korra's lifetime? How did the Red Lotus operate back then in Magnum's lifetime?

They are based on "Ra's al Ghul", and his "League of Assassins/Shadows"
(which themselves appear similar to groups like the "Knights Templar")
All I will say for now is that I named their leader: "Huang Hong Lian"

Wait, I'm confused. Does Takka stay on Air Temple Island after Korra was exiled in "A Breath of Fresh Air" or does he go with Team Avatar to find airbenders until he has to go with Tenzin to the Northern Air Temple in "In Harm's Way"? ABOFA and IHW are LOK episodes by the way.
Don't mean to sound obvious, just reminding you.

He stays with Tenzin. and, goes when HE goes.

I suppose Takka will get subjected to Tenzin's training after Bumi gave the airbending master advice on how to teach his pupils.

Given that not even Tenzin's own daughter, Jinora, didn't get off any easier than anyone else..I'd say that's about right
(on a more personal note, Tenzin as a "Drill Sergeant" doesn't seem very Air Nomad-like for him.
THAT kind of behavior is more akin to the Earth Kingdom, which is also the "apposing" element of Air.)
