[JESSICA COSMOS]

Jessica is a poor, unfortunate soul if there ever was one..

a Shy and Timid Pegasus, she was barely a teenager when she was abducted from her home
by Lionel, an adult unicorn who saw fit to use her as his personal slave

the harsh and cruel treatments eventually broke her will,
and, she found herself the unwilling "wife" to an unloving "husband".

One ray of hope came in the form of her son, Alex (born from Lionel's "violation" of Jessica's purity)
but, he to suffered Lionel's unholy wrath due to him being born a common earth pony.

despite her best efforts, there was little she could do to protect him.
both were too scared to run, or even ask for help (fearing what Lionel may do if they "betrayed" him)

but, when little Alex stood up for his mother (and, nearly lost his life because of it)
something in Jessica snapped. she attacked her tormentor, and spirited her son away..FAR away.

they ran for years, hiding in every city and town in Equestria (from Manehatten to Appleoosa)

they eventually settled in Ponyville. a small, tightly knit community best known for it's "friendliness"

It was Jessica's hope that Lionel would NEVER find them there..a hope that was dashed when Lionel somehow DID find them.

but, Salvation came in the form of Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn apprentice of Princess Celestia herself who took an interest in Alex shortly after his arrival in Ponyville

When Lionel attacked them both, only Twilight at the strength to overcome the evil unicorn and end Jessica and Alex suffering once and for all.

Sadly, though..Why Alex recovered from Lionel's attack, Jessica didn't. and, died in the hospital overnight.

::AFTERLIFE::

Content that her son would be well taken care of by Twilight Sparkle, and her friends
Jessica had nothing to anchor her to the living world..and, passed on to Elysium.
from there..she bore witness to her son's death, and remarkable return as a Ghost.
and, his long and hard battle to save Equestria from a "Rising Darkness" that threatened to destroy it.

[LIONEL COSMOS]

Because his ancestor was King Sombra, Lionel believed he was meant to RULE ALL.

sadly, he lacked the power and resources to make that a reality (but, that didn't stop him from trying)

He started by abducting a young pegasus, Jessica.
who would be is slave, and provide an heir for his future regime.

but, Luck was NOT on his side..

his every attempts to gain power even GREATER than Sombra's all ended in failure
and, worse, The son that his slave provided him wasn't an Alicorn like he hoped: but, a common EARTH PONY.

with every failure, he took out his rage on his "family" (his son for being so Weak and Worthless, and his slave wife for birthing such a weakling)

One day, however..his son actually got the nerve to defy him. and for he tried to make an example of the colt..his wife also became bold enough to defy him by actually attacking him.

Lionel spent the next decade or so hunting his runaway family, intent on making them PAY for defying him.

he eventually DID track them down in Ponyville..but, his revenge was thwarted by Twilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia's apprentice and his own son's "marefriend"

after an embarassing defeat at her hooves, he was arrested, and sentenced to Life Imprisonment.

Unfortunately, his imprisonment wouldn't last for very long..

not long after his son died of an incurable illness, another unicorn by name of Sunset Shimmer paid him a "visit"

the vengeful unicorn then drove her mystically charged horn straight through his heart..ENDING him.

::AFTERLIFE::

Perhaps it was his Hatred, or the natural darkness in his heart..
but, upon death, Lionel was reborn as a powerful phantasm.

having been reached out by likeminded ghouls (and, guided by Sombra himself)
he led an a massive invasion upon Equestria with the intent of destroying all, and claiming what remains.

after gaining an alliance with The Changelings (sans Chrysalis)
Lionel began a complicated scheme to reconstitute King Sombra, and return him to the living world.

though, it remains to be seen if Sombra will tolerate Lionel, and his egotistical ambitions.

Though, that may not be a problem..as Lionel appear to (ironically enough) be ill with an ghostly disease that is slowly "killing him".

will Lionel seek to cure himself?, or will his madly drag everypony else into oblivion with him.

asked me to do a colored version of a prior pencil art (despite the fact that somebody else did their own fanart of these characters)

I eventually relented, and gave it my best shot (even performing some "touch-ups" along the way.)

Anyways, here are Lionel and Jessica. Alex Cosmos parents.

Jessica's design is based on Fluttershy, with her manestyle being akin to Kim Possible.
while Lionel's design is based on King Sombra himself.

::EDIT:: I changed Jessica's death, so that instead of "suicide" due to Alex own death from cancer
she instead just died from injuries inflicted by Lionel Cosmos.
