Description "As for the hands of the clock, since they provide the answer, in an act of my own choosing, I release it into the sky..."
- "Balloon" by Tiara feat. Miku Hatsune

Honestly, Tiara makes such lovely songs with quite a well-tuned Miku. And when I decided to explore more of their songs, I ran into this lovely one. And of course, it was able to give me a really huge inspiration to draw another picture!
Please give their song a listen~

It'd also help to do so in order to get the context of this image.

Upon reading the lyrics-- credit due in the link provided-- it made me think about Chrom's silly, little (unimportant) moment of being after getting his support role in Smash 4 and whatever came afterwards. Somehow the lyrics clicked so well to me. The balloons could represent that "chance" some received in getting into the roster, the recognition, etc. And maybe the child could represent Lucina, or LuLu specifically-- same person, hm?

In any case, the whole message of the song talks about moving on and away from one's past bad times.
And with the wonderful amount of bitter-icky I've been prodding on in regards to Chrom, this really summed it up to when he made it with those folks over at Project X Zone 2, getting almost in a way a "happy ending".

Note that I said "almost", I do believe I am far from over in working with this theme of "separation and coming together".
Bwehehe~

Now then! I had intended for a rather blank scheme in the pic, nonetheless.
It kinda makes for a greater focus on the subject anyway, especially since he's so blank already. I already had a bit of an issue trying to make a creative pose, but I didn't want anything too excessive. So I just took the simple-n-clean route.

So, please understand and bear with the excess of white. ( ~' ,')~

U-wah, everyone pretty much wrote what I wanted.
BUT YES, this is a lovely piece of work!
At first I thought "why does Chrom have a balloon???" And then I read the description and I thought "Ohhhhh, all makes sense now"
Project X Zone 2 wasn't the game we intended or thought he'd be in, but it's the game he deserved to be in.
(It's so pretty too in-game~)

As usual your composition and artwork is outstanding! <3

Ufu~ Well, that's why it helps to read the description whenever you're confused. Then if that's already confusing, you are always free to ask me for clarification.

His portrait is so clean-looking too, I was quite speechless the morning I saw the news.
Nevertheless, I am happy for him, I just want the guy to finally get a "happy ending".

Thank you so much~!

I mostly read the description- even if yours are mainly quick a lot bulkier than what I usually read hehe.
It was a small 'first glance' reaction haha. I'm always confused so there's that too ouo;;

Yes! I never kept up to date- I actually only knew thanks to your comics with Lulu and Shulk hehe and that's when I told my sister who kept showing me little GIFs and stuff xD
And yes, for the lord of the game, he got a lot less attention and was definitely outshone by a lot of characters :L

And you're welcome~ I look forward to your art in the future!

Well, I wouldn't say I may be buying the game-- I still don't know if the playstyle is in my grip.
But nevertheless, I still look forward to whatever they've got in store for interactions.

Oh, and thank you so much for sharing these nice shots!

I Kind of like the excess of white in the picture! I really love this song! It kind of moved me inside. (I also cried a bit...IDK why...) I can understand why Chrom is in this picture. IDK why everyone else I showed this to kept asking me. I was kind of like "READ THIS DESCRIPTION! I DIDN'T DRAW THIS PICTURE! I SWEAR TO GOD!" Nonetheless, you did an amazing job with this picture. I freaking love it! Hope to see more amazing content from ya!
Oli.

Yeah, I can't/won't force people to read them-- but I type a bum-ton of words with the intent of helping others understand a little. I know we don't like to reading essays, in or out of school, but what can we do?

But thanks so much for taking the time to look through this, I know they are stuffy reads, too.
The whiteness is often I scheme I find myself using for Chrom, I mean it matches his own color scheme and seems to give off the feeling of a blank slate-- either empty or starting anew.

Plus, I tried adding some more color but it looked way too much. So I kept things minimal. ( ' <');

That song really moved me inside, what a masterpiece! I quite felt into it through my own personal feelings and experiences. So glad that there's people like Tiara out there.

In general however, it quite dawns to me while one's mind can be able to freeze on place, the passage of time will always continue it's course into eternity - bringing all kinds of new for us to take if we're willing to let our hands and the back free of bear. Which also asks us to be stronger than we were before.
And since LuLu just wants the best of her dear daddy, it seems more than fitting here - gah~. I quite enjoy this simple piece for that all. Looks like a sweet book-end page to Chrom's tale... and can only keep us in our toes for another chronicle being currently written for us to see.

The skies are always limitless for new beginnings and dreams out there, really - as is the new worlds out there as your break through your comfort zone to cross into 'em. I quite hope the fans out there trying PxZ2 might get to see such places too if being attracted by Chrom and his daughter + some more.

Indeed so! Deep in the mix of electric-pop and other wacky-fun tunes in the VOCALOID community, there are several of these beautiful songs holding very deep messages, you just need to look carefully and listen to their words!

And that's great to hear! If my artwork isn't just to try developing certain traits of characters in-emphasis, then their situations could at least be applicable to the viewers themselves. Is that not what some books, songs, and other media (like Tiara's song itself) like to do as well? I've found myself liking to make ideas that can go many ways like that, even if they are initially simple.

From what I picked up in this song, so easily linking it to the subject character I chose here, it felt like a time in which Chrom has chosen to move on, away from chasing after that desire to be redeemed back home-- which could kind of be represented by the blue balloon and subsequent chances lost in the red balloons-- as it would only haunt and hinder him.

With that new opportunity-- represented by the white balloon's appearance-- he chose to send all of the old troubles away and go on, as somewhat of a final decision. And while it sounds happy for him, it also kind of swings back to how Chrom severed himself not only from that silly Smash fiasco, but also ties from his old friends, family, and roots.

Hence why I said above that it would seem like I had given him "almost" a happy ending.
With new solutions often come new problems, which is also normal in life as it progresses.

So with that in mind, I'd hope that I could somehow get this idea here to connect with that one you-n-I had put together via Notes earlier. I'm not sure when I'll be able to fully execute this plan, but I know it will take some time before it goes into effect.

They quite tend to, yeah - quite reminds me when my sis was surprised why she got little notes of this little sketch she made of Inuyasha compared to more comic one about him swearing in the scanlations of his manga compared to the official translations.

With that new opportunity-- represented by the white balloon's appearance-- he chose to send all of the old troubles away and go on, as somewhat of a final decision.

I guess what makes it even more fascinating to me is that right now,  the current "road" Chrom's set on has quite substance of his own individuality in it - like being crafted by his own efforts and merits. After all, it's quite fascinating that Chrom's getting rather significant appearances overall through his own popularity (he's got the swimpants to prove that), through these approvals to use him in crossovers by other companies. Compared to say, the Smash-characters who might feel more and more shtick-driven stereotypes from the fans and their "glory" netting them becoming something of a product placements in other games (aside from Codename S.T.E.A.M in means of implementation).
Meanwhile Chrom feels Chrom throughout in his current appearances, not driven by his popularity growing through Smash Bros or like that - and isn't really revered as the guy who's known as the Ike-wannabe punched from Smash 4's roster by Captain Falcon.
It sorta feels like he walks his own lane that defies the designated expectations of people having to remember or become fans of such character through these popular crossover game exposures. (Though even then, Shulk's quite a convoluted case of this if going by Xenoblade-spoilers for example.)

With that, I don't think he "defied" any "fate" here like what some fans could say. He just managed to write it even further on wrote it through his merits (completely outside of Smash Bros to boot), which is quite significant feat - yet has started to gain more effect by what this year's had to show.

Yeah - this right now, is pretty relevant. For now however, it's a big progress made forward nonetheless.

From how I would view it going on from there in PxZ2-events, since around then Chrom could have comfortable with his whole SEGA/Atlus-label shtick he had pulled behind the founders' backs, which would let him act openly as his usual sweet self instead of rather distant, he could have garnered some new friends. Yet when it's found out he's been pulling some weird discrepancies inside his status, he might not be as talkative as before as too busy knowing he represents a place that had their fans slapped him with all these labels on the back (supported further by localized guidances) - but it'd be too late for him as there's new friends he made who has seen to what he is truly like inside - and they might try to help him get out of his shell, possibly after X tells why Chrom's being moody despite faking it.

Possibly it would have lead on the moment at one point where not only it's Lucina who tells him to let go of such thoughts that only would pain him, but also some members inside the program who had to get in terms of being being in a "hiatus" or just not being able to come back "in the market" and similar despite being demanded constantly back by fans and living the glory days - which comprise actually a lot of the series featured in PxZ2, primarily SEGA and Capcom. Maybe they wanted to live further too and see themselves get forward, but times and opportunities are now just harsh, or even turned their backs on them in a way that would sign no comeback in ever. Perhaps they had lifted their own  balloons to let go of yearning back days of being more than just quest appearances or crossover material - letting then feel in their legacy and appeal possibly being more affecting of the things inspired by them and believing that their appeal will transcend time like that again, and maybe much more. (Who knows, a new game under the hands of those who know what they are doing - i.e Donkey Kong Returns)

For example, Darkstalkers seems a lot this after me watching the entirety of this video , especially by the bit that bringing them back would be difficult and even disastrous right now considering Capcom's current situation and lack of people who could do the series justice like back in it's hayday - after all, there's those weird reboots like Devil May Cry featuring New Dante with that fifth installment, which wasn't really liked from what I remember.

Also, with Sakura Wars and some other Sega's IPs also being in dormancy with SEGA - though it's more to do with SEGA trying to reconstitute their brand  these days with the things they've managed to get up running and used to do well with before, while now trying to ensure better quality on their software projects. But again, Sakura Wars (and Skies of Arcadia) had led to inspirational birth of Valkyria Chronicles-games and a manga reimagination for example with switching the trope with a girl protagonist around a boy troupe.

So with that in mind, I'd hope that I could somehow get this idea here to connect with that one you-n-I had put together via Notes earlier. I'm not sure when I'll be able to fully execute this plan, but I know it will take some time before it goes into effect.

Wishing ya biggest chants of luck there! Quite curious what you're having in mind on your own idea indeed, can't wait!

This is really pretty. Chrom came out amazing and I really like how it seems like the cape in getting blown by the wind or something :3
Amazing work as always!

And yes, that's correct! I wanted to make Chrom's cape have that flying feel to it, to better emphasize that he's going off to somewhere else. Dramatic-uuu, I know.
