So yeah, here's the concept for my August journal design. If I could design any journal CSS without worrying about any coding, This is what it would look like. It's my entry to *ginkgografix 's eCSSellence Contest , which is one of my only chances to get this thing coded properly.
I kept everything clean and simple, making sure not to have anything that would distract the reader from the content (heh, you DID read it!). It allows room for plenty of text and a bunch of thumbs. I'm pretty sure that the blur of the text to create a glow effect is possible through coding, though I'm not sure if the blur behind the glass effect is possible. The background is a stock from sxc.hu to which I made some color and levels adjustments.
Public or private... uhm... I'm going to go with public in order to make everyone happy.

The CSS for this journal is finally available for download.
Since the re-coding of it apparently will never happen, I'm releasing the orgininal coding. I recommend that you host the background image on your own (free hosting sites such as imageshack.us and Photobucket are easy to use). When you host the background image, be sure to change the URL in line 8 of the CSS to point to the image that you have hosted. I'm going to also ask that you please leave my avatar in the bottom right and do not replace it with your own because without that, there is no credit to me for the design. So please be fair. and YES, REMOVING MY AVATAR FUCKS UP THE JOURNAL. HAH.

can the 'blurred' window effect be made to work in 'real-time'
so no matter where it's moved to the image is blurred beneath it?

Thanks! And I wishhh. As far as I know, that sort of thing can't really be done in CSS unless there's some sort of workaround using two images somehow...

this is so beautiful! Usually i'm put off by css journals with background images like this, but its got such great colors and it's all gradienty sorta and I really do like it. Plus i've been looking for something for a while.

wooould u be able to tweak it a bit, if it was possible as a request? just wondering. Cause made it as anyone can use it....would be odd seeing the same journal design in other pple pages?

I think coding it would be easy, if you made the blur front and the background one huge centered background.
Then though, it would have to be one fixed size.

Sure, why not. Although you'll probably have to redo the content box etc, since it's one big flat image.

Nope, and I didn't code it. It was going to be re-coded by someone, but since I haven't heard from them regarding it in nearly a year, I just released this version.
