Description Virginia striatula - Rough earth snake from my backyard in Sebastian County, Arkansas. After a long winter of snow, it's warmed up enough that I've been able to flip a handful of these little guys over the past week or so. After three herpless months, they were a very welcome sight.

This is my first entry in months, the very first click with the new camera, and the first entry from me since I moved from California to Arkansas last July. (It's now February).

Don't pay any attention to the EXIF on this image, though. The lens is an OLD Nikkor 55mm macro (as in over 40 years old) that is completely manual, so I adjusted aperture on the lens itself as opposed to the camera automatically doing it. The true EXIF is:

Focal length: 55mm
ISO 640
F/8
1/50 second handheld
Pop up flash with homemade shampoo bottle diffuser.
