I really like how this one turned out, especially the fire sparks. Took about 3 hours to finish. Done in Adobe Photoshop CS5Old one

And Woah! X/D The drawing feels so dark and menacing. It looks like he was contained in some solitude for so long, that being the reason his body is all changed
The area of his torso, I can feel the smoke, like this would have been part of an animation while the lava-lines on his body feel like a hatred that is trying to lash out but isn't able to express itself on this calm body
I'm very attracted to those red outlines on his hands as well, and the horns all over his body look painful but beautiful.

Only thing that I think needs work is unless it was intended, the smoke was abit hard to see at first cause of the background. I almost didn't know it was part of his body.. then again, that might just be the dA watermarks fault XD;

I absolutely love the way the body turns to smoke near the bottom. It's definitely better than the last one. My only suggestion would be the claws. I'm not sure if that's how they're supposed to be, but it just stands out to me what with the red outlining them. It makes them look a bit unnatural and sort of takes away focus from the rest of the piece. If I had a suggestion, it'd be to make them look a bit more natural with the rest of the piece (unless, of course, that's how they're supposed to be). But other than that, it looks fantastic!

The red around the hands was my last-minute resort to make them visible without dissapearing into the smoke and background. x,D But there's probably something else I could've done, I do agree with your point, they do take the attention away.

Not quite sure, perhaps because the original looks darker, more evil like a horror monster. The re-do is grander but more like a fantasy monster.
