In the arctic regions of the sixth surveyed world, sentry duty can be a cold and lonely task. The winds howl, snow drifts, ice builds, and one's thermal armor had better be well-maintained and fully powered at the start of each shift.
Shaggy ceratopsians move slowly across frozen tundra, beneath ancient mountains and the strange, inscrutable sphere that the survey crews discovered there. A relic of the Gatebuilders, impervious and impenetrable, it quietly awaits a signal or some unknown condition. Some say it is simply dead, others whisper that it is still watching over this world through as-yet-undetectable means. Rival corporations vie for control of such artifacts, hoping to discover and profit from valuable ancient technologies.
The sentry trudges through a light dusting of fresh snow over hardened permafrost, watching the beasts travel past, their vocalizations echoing eerily off icy crags. Their kind have been extinct for millions of years back on Earth, but they persist here, evolved in new directions, into new environments. The sentry keeps an eye on his satellite link and local radar feeds, too; the native predators that stalk the herd are large and silent, but off-world predators descending from orbit may be the greater danger...

I actually haven't had a chance to play Destiny at all... but I enjoy the art and design, from what I've seen at least. Would you recommend it?

Depends It's addicting and can be fun. But it can be tedious too...
The gameplay is pretty on point and the PvP is cool.
The story when it first came out wasnt anything much but now...is rather impressive (especially if your a Lore junkie like me)
In short I love the game but i know it will and has ticked other people off to no end

I was referring to predators with technological capability, using suits and ships. "Predators" in the sense of an entity that exploits, plunders and attacks others, not necessarily the biological definition.

Very intriguing art and music, at first the syncopated beat seemed odd to me but it was actually really neat as it went on.

So is this some other planet where dinosaurs got transplanted by aliens long ago?

Yes! I've always enjoyed the idea of ancient travelers terraforming other worlds and seeding them with Earth life, as some kind of preserve and giant evolutionary experiment.

Indeed, it is a pretty interesting concept. Its interesting to wonder on all the possible ways prehistoric Earth creatures transplanted onto other worlds would diverge from their Earth counterparts as time goes by.
