So can they still talk?

Yes, but this concept is under major reworkin

Eerr, we are already predators. Becoming even more carnivorous doesn't mean you lack the ability to speak. And as said: this is not up to date

I believe in post humans too, but this is out of date. I know know more and even looking back at this is cringy. There was no real background behind all of the designs and if there were they were inaccurate

Regardless of whether this could really happen in nature or not, it's a cool concept. Consider a parallel universe or alternate reality with slight differences in nature's order.

Hmmm. I see what you're talking about. Well i can just change the body structure of the creatures and their appearances. Originally the animals took 67 million years to fully evolve and were more human in appearance. They also could switch between bipedal and quadruped. You guys are adults and know more, so i will update it.

Well, they have a much faster learning rate than us and comprehend more complex things. Since most humans died off, the technology for vehicles and complex buildings was lost. But spears, and wooden homes (simple cabin/ hut thingies) are used.

Man, I'll tell you something, unless someone applies genetic engineering to convert human to something like a Gorgonopsid, that will never happen in nature

Midiaou In reply to Dragonthunders [2015-03-22 23:19:12 +0000 UTC]
Evolution is a complex thing and can lead to any direction, not the way we may perceive it to be. For all we know we could end up like bat like creatures. In this state, we haven't been down graded. Just our appearances have changed. It is your opinion.

I know evolution's complex, but that doesn't mean there's no boundaries. You say these guys are twice as smart as humans, but why would they become dog-like then? Sapient creatures tend to shape the environment to their needs and these guys seem to have no means of doing that. Also, 13 million years is waaaaay too little time for this kind of evolution. Besides, there are plenty of other animals that could fill their niche faster and better. Β Also, why would they need a tail?

Dragonthunders In reply to Midiaou [2015-03-22 23:34:09 +0000 UTC]
Not really, considers that there are limits, like space and time, too, biological and anatomical limits. You can not just take X Animal and turn it into something else.Β evolution is complex but not some kind of magic that can turn anything into something completely different.
Usually nature does not return to reptetir the same things, except in the case of convergent evolution (which in any case, the similarities between some species are not as great, and almost repeating are some morphological aspects like flippers, wings, bodies, ect).
Here there is no much about evolution, here you simply became human beings in gorgonopsids.Β

Syphonodon In reply to Midiaou [2015-03-22 23:31:16 +0000 UTC]
But in that span of time? Impossible.Β
Evolution can lead in any direction, yes. But is it really plausible for a human to evolve into a bat-like creature, let alone a gorgonopsid-like predator, in only 13 million years? Probably not.
The kind of evolutionary changes that you have drawn here would probably take 50, maybe even hundreds of millions of years to evolve.Β
Let me use pterosaurs, for example. It took well over 150 million years for pterosaurs to evolve from insignificant forms like Eudimorphodon, to giraffe-sized giants, like Hatzegopteryx and Quetzalcoatlus. A good thing to know is that minor changes don't need a lot of time to evolve, and drastic changes in appearances and habits take long periods of time. A rat can evolve into a beaver sized animal ten million years after a mass extinction, when most of the competition is wiped out. A giraffe, being a specialized browser, cannot evolve into a rodent-like creature in only the span of two centuries. That takes hundreds of millions of years, and even with that timespan, it would be impossible for that to evolve.

Hey may I ask. I recreated the entire ancestry for Kryotheres. What if a new way of breeding call "hyperbreeding" was created. Shorten the time to reach sexualmaturity, have mre offspring (smaller) and get desirable traits very quickly.
π: 0 β©: 1
Syphonodon In reply to Midiaou [2015-09-22 00:39:39 +0000 UTC]
That could work if the ancestral kryotheres got smaller and less specialized into a form that could produce more young in a smaller amount of time. Maybe a form similar to a medium-sized deer could produce the variety of kryotheres that exist in the Kryocene.

That's exactly what I imagined. It sorta goes that a certain movie series in the future made giraffes famous and wanted as pets (like raccoons in Japan). Their form is of that description.
