If you were to ask Valdis about his start in life, he would tell you that it was a rags to riches sort of story; of how he was plucked from a life of jumping from home to home into a life of comfort and as much learning as one could ever want.

The start of his story is true, after losing his biological family at a young age, Valdis became something of a problem child, being shipped from foster home to halfway house and back again. Being uprooted never gave him anything to look forward to, so he poured his energy into causing problems and getting out of those very same problems by pushing the blame onto others. This continued on into Valdis' teenage years, him and a small group of other kids banding together in the halfway house they all lived in.

It was mid way into his 15th year that Master Bartra came into the picture.

Bartra had been known in the town as one of the more wealthy men, his fortune spanning over numerous businesses and agencies across Camphrier and Anistar. In one fell swoop, the aging man took Valdis and the group of other teens under his wing, with his end goal being to pick one of them to be the successor of his business empire. The man spared no expense in giving the group of them the best education and tutoring possible, set in his idea of raising the perfect heirs.
The years that followed were comfortable but challenging; Master Bartra was a strict man with very clear rules and paths for his new family. Some of the other kids couldn't keep up, lowering Bartra's estimations. Despite this though, they were kept in the family, albeit at a lower standing than the others who had progressed.

The race to become heir came to a head when Valdis was in his mid twenties. Only him and his sister remained in the running, and it seemed that she would be the one to take the place as head of the Bartra legacy. What they say is true though; The bigger you are, the harder you fall. Or in some cases, the fall only needed a little... Push.
Valdis' sister ended up getting into an accident, leaving her bed bound for months, which in turn knocked her out of the race, leaving Valdis the sole heir to the legacy. No one ever found out that Valdis had been the reason behind her accident, and any suspicions had been quashed before they made it to his father.

With his future set in stone, Valdis poured his energy into learning the ins and outs of his father's business, making a name for himself without the influence of the elder Bartra. Valdis' true calling ended up falling into PR and scouting for innate talent, with his father's teachings he found he could draw talent from those beneath him. All it took was a push.

It was his wealth and skill with relations that landed him a solid position in Team Zephyr. He would bring in new recruits under the guise of giving them a chance at fame and business, and in turn he would get to have his pick of Zephyrs that rose through the ranks.

After all, the Bartra legacy must continue on.
