Wow. What an interesting twist on the original. The first part gave the impression that what showbiz does to people is wrong, but this sequel goes in a different direction.
Even though Pearl and Marina changed the way they behave, they never lost sight of what they care for. They didn't sell their souls, but they wanted to improve themselves for the better. So in a way, they actually stayed very true to their real selves. In contrast, Callie and Marie stayed the same in they way they behave, but lost sight on what made the Squid Sisters special. So, it's actually the Squid Sisters who lost their real selves over the years, and Callie seemed to realise that in the end.
This is a very interesting take on these characters. Great job.
