Looks like swamp thing got hold of some demon fertilizer! The braided look of the muscles is very very cool. It seems like the muscle is gripping his skeleton and trying to tear it apart. Awesome. Seems like he would have a really hard time staying hygienic with all those little crevices though. Poor guy.

Made to animate?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeJensen In reply to xalener [2009-02-08 02:37:58 +0000 UTC]

Not quite yet. It's going to be a game character, so after I make a new low poly mesh it will be very animatable.

May inquire details of said game? Or is it a big official thing and very secretive?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeJensen In reply to xalener [2009-02-08 23:56:02 +0000 UTC]

Haha it's not really for a game. I wish! It's actually so I can finish up my portfolio and start applying for jobs. I don't want to release it right now, but if I get a job I'll probably end up releasing it to modding groups so they can use it for whatever they want. So hopefully I get a job

I'd sport it w/ a better matcap.. the stock green looks a bit dark..

looking forward for an update..

MikeJensen In reply to Pogimonz [2009-02-07 06:07:01 +0000 UTC]

Hey! I would love to put a new mat cap on it, but I don't have any good ones! All I have are the stock ones. I'll try to throw a lighter matcap like you suggest, and see how it looks. Thanks for the input!

haha, no problem!

while your at it, even though you're already very talented check out Sathe's Hard-surface vid tutorials, it really gave me a solid understanding on the topic.. Sathe is a genius and a big community help lol..

looking forward to an update..

Made in Zbrush?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeJensen In reply to mesanger [2009-02-07 06:06:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the fav <3. It's mainly made in zbrush, but the base model was created in 3ds max, because I feel I have more control over individual polygons there.

mesanger In reply to MikeJensen [2009-02-07 09:11:30 +0000 UTC]

I thought about doing it too. Im good at 3ds max but i suck at zbrush <.<. Can you give me some tips how to model organic forms?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeJensen In reply to mesanger [2009-05-10 00:28:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I would say that the best advice I can give is use the clay brush to block in muscle forms, and spend a few hours a day (time permitting) Studying gray's anatomy online (should turn up in google). Understanding underlying muscles and origin and insertion points is critical.

Robotlouisstevenson [2009-02-06 21:58:01 +0000 UTC]

Holy hell, How many polys was that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeJensen In reply to Robotlouisstevenson [2009-02-07 06:05:08 +0000 UTC]

Currently It's 3.37 million polys. I do plan on subdiving it once more, just to enhance a few of the details a bit more, at which point it will be around 13.48 million polys. It's all going into a normal map though, so the polycount won't matter at that point

Robotlouisstevenson In reply to MikeJensen [2009-02-07 06:59:30 +0000 UTC]

jesus, do you set Meshsmooths which smoothen the objects out while rendering?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeJensen In reply to Robotlouisstevenson [2009-05-10 00:26:50 +0000 UTC]

Nope actually this is done in zbrush, which is more capable of handling higher poly stuff.
