Japanese torii on the top of Mt. Kiso-koma

The second of three large centerpieces for my upcoming art show in November. I began working on this almost three months ago, and the devil, as they say, is in the details. This is the first time Iโ€™ve painted snow or ice, and I had a hell of a time trying to make it look realistic. After many trials with various styles and colours, I finally settled on this version.

This painting turned our really well. The details are great. You did manage to make this look very realistic. I also like the title. Where else will you 'find out who you really are' than in a harsh place that is frozen.

This is based on a photograph my friend took while mountain climbing in Japan. One of my all time favourite photos and I just had to recreate it.
