first you do the grey scale value, and then you do color and try to stick with a sort of limited pallet/ color scheme

Yeah I use to not either, but the comic book professor at scad suggested it and I'm honestly shocked at what a difference it makes
it really isn't about what style you generally work in, and it is an extra step, but it allows you to determine brightness and darkness and where you want the focal point of the drawing to be (he also mentioned something about a 25:75 lightness to darkness/ vice versa ratio in your value which also helps direct your attention to the focus of the piece)

like idk if that makes any sense, but I always kind of wondered why some people went out of their way to do that and it really makes your work turn out so much better it's great

but how do you determine which colors after it's b/w? just start with one and work around in circles?

um i guess?? the black and white is mostly to determine the brightness and intensity of the colors you're planning on using

well I'm in ap art so this class is a major grade and its muy stressful. School is lame. I wish it were just art class but nah we gotta learn what x/2y times the square root of giraffes

Right????? I've been in the habit of drawing stupid body parts all over my paper. Like the other day i turned in a Spanish quiz with a beautifully drawn foot on the top....  My teacher was not impressed
