Description I wanted to do something different and inspired by RobinsArtist I decided to do a profile of a Marvel character. I was going to do Gambit but decided I might have more fun with Ghostrider. The original skull was less than impressive and I must had redrawn and resculpted this image a dozen times before I got it to look like it does now. I must say he looks a bit like Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas now, but it was hard to strike the balance between his head looking like a skull and having a sinister grin. Too much grin and it looks silly, too little and it loses much of it's impact.

Thanks. Its always kinda fun to twist something like a skull just enough for it to imply expression.

And he didn't want me to see the part of the movie where he changes. He just pushed my head down so I wouldn't see him change from a human into the skeleton. I think he didn't want to be hearing loud "ews".... By the way, visit me on xanga.

That's what he looked like when he turned into Ghost Rider... It was pretty cool with the speical effects. That was TOTALLY AWESOME! *As Strong Bad would say*

I opened this up and was like--Ooh! A mug shot! Always nice to inspire someone. Yours is much more nicely rendered than mine tend to be, at least so far.

I think the skull looks fine--much like I remember the Dan Ketch Saltares/Texiera version from the 90's. What may be throwing it off is the neck. I think I remember that the skull seemed to sort of just float in the jet of flame that shot from his collar, instead of being clearly attatched. That might be harder to do with the kind of collar you gave him though.

I do like this though--the spiked collar gives it its own sense of macabre creepiness, and makes for a unique take. I added GR to my list after our talk about the "new FF" from the 90's, and though he's a ways down the road, you've definitely raised the bar with this pic. Nice job!

You're right. I just noticed that they don't draw him with a neck, that would have looked better. Oh well. I did want him to look a little different than in the comics I have of him anyhow. I appreciate the compliament, I was up until the wee hours of the night last night trying to get that skull just right (I've never drawn one that size before). I think the best revisions I made on it was to raise the zygoma (making him look more like he's grinning) and making the deformation of the eyesockets less pronounced (as they tend to be drawn like half almond shaped in the comics I have).

After seeing your drawing I pulled out an old sketch I did circa 1991-92 of GR. The bike looks great, the skull--not so much. Yours is definitely more in line with what ol' flame-head should be, IMO.

I can't wait to see it. I'm lousy at drawing bikes myself or I woulda tried to draw the rider on his ride.

Done.

And may I add, the more I'm looking at yours, the more I'm diggin' it.
