Description
Here is my first (paid) commission. And after 10 hours of work I really feel good to be done with it. I drew one of my manager's cars with the late Ed Roth's character Rat Fink popping out of the hood. I tried to capture the spirit of the original while drawing things more my way. I'm not a big fan of the style but I need money to replace my dead 2nd gen ipod (those who know me would have found it funny to see me without headphones for the last month or two). Now I better get cracking with my next pic or this one will be on my home page for months.Related content

I'll tell you what, after doing this picture and the research which went into it I have a whole new respect for the man.

Well, for somebody that doesn't like Ed's work, you did a fine job. But I'd have to say that your regret for doing the work is irritating to a degree.

I don't dislike it his style or regret doing it, it's just rather far from my own. The project took a long time compared to most of my work and just because I was glad to finish the work does not mean that I did not enjoy it. Seriously, I mean no disrespect to Ed Roth or fans of his work. He had an energy and wholeness of style which I am years away from and I respect him for that; but I was weaned (artistically) on Marvel comics and my artistic aspirations are more in that direction. The pic was very challenging for me artistically and I did not mean to convey disdain for the material but rather relief at being able to complete it.

It almost sounded like you were embarassed to have the work be seen at all. We all say things and get people confused from time to time. Just stating my opinionfrom what I gathered you meant. No hard feelings, bud.
