Description This is actually a costume for a LARP I attend called Kyranthia (www.kyranthialarp.com). It is a fantasy LARP in which my character is a creature, closest in form to an elf, made from mana. This character is essentially a font of water mana wrapped into a mortal vessel.

During the winter months, this character would have frozen over. I wanted to create a suitably "frozen" costume to match.
It is a skirt, a sleeveless bodice, a belt, a secondary bell-ed belt (I did not make this) and a wrap shirt with long sleeves (designed such that you can only see the sleeves when worn with the bodice).
If you're wondering about the snake, that is my character's familiar. He was bought on amazon. :-P

Yeah, I think I could pretty easily sell both. Β My etsy store could use the business! Β :-P

Do you have any recommendations for other color combinations? Β The "frozen" color is pretty nice, but I'm always game to try new palates!Β

I am so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.Β  I know the purple and pinks from Rapunzel have been all the rage lately.Β  I think any color you did it in would would be beautiful.Β  I am pretty partial to navy blue and ice blue myself.Β  If you offer a pattern, I would definitely be interested in buying it.Β

Thank you so much! Β I don't get to wear it very much, but I do enjoy prancing around in it when the weather is cool enough!

I really like the upper... mantle(?) portion, it really helps continue the splaying lines in the back of the torso part. Great stuff.

Thanks! I went back to my roots by drawing a character design first, then trying to mimic the costume I drew up. Sometimes it's impossible, but this time, it totally worked!

Very very very awesome design!
Do you sketch designs before you make em? And what are the costs that go into making it?

Thank you very very very much! ^__^ I was really pleased with how the design of this one came out.
Actually, this is one that I did sketch out first. I usually make up a quick sketch if I'm making something I've never made before... just to lock in a visual aesthetic. More typically, I'll visualize the piece to DEATH before I even sketch one part.
This piece was sketched out with the character I had in mind. Then I pulled the costume apart to see what I'd do for the top/sleeves/skirt/etc. Minor changes were made when I patterned it out.

The costs are pretty reasonable... I spent $15 on 144 grommets, of which I used 52. I spend probably $40 on fabric, and $4 on bias tape and ribbon. So the total was roughly $50 in materials.

I buy fabric and materials at a store that's specifically a "discount fabric" store. For example, I pay $0.29 per yard of bias tape, as opposed to $1.50 per yard. Those sort of expenses add up quickly when you're using 12 yards! hahaha
