Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Role: Naval Fighter
National Origin: Nordic Confederation
Manufacturer: Valkirie
Primary Users:
Nordisk Konfederasjon Flystyrke (NKFS)

The Nordic Confederation's KP-1 was one of the first fighters to help the pagan Nordic Confederation stave off the attacks of the Roman Catholic Coalition and solidify their power in the North Atlantic. Though among the slowest fighter's it's strong maneuverability and excellent range allowed it to hold up well against German, French, and even Roman Aircraft.

Though having the most powerful navy in the known world, the Nordic Confederation struggled with largely having obsolete aircraft while facing off against the A-5's. The aircraft company Valkyrie was formed to solve this issue, and would develop aircraft to help neutralize their enemy's air superiority. In the end a solid fighter was developed, designed mainly to help defend Nordic warships from enemy torpedo and dive bombers.

It proved quite effective in a dogfight thanks to it's maneuverability, the most agile aircraft of it's time as it flew circles around all whom it faced. The airframe was lightweight, but decently sturdy to so that it could take a few hits even from Roman Guns. A 15 cylinder radial engine served as the main powerplant, though it was not a powerful engine and gave the aircraft a below average speed. Though the speed was slow the aircraft proved to be quite efficient with it's fuel, having a range to easily outmatch its foes and nearly removing the need for an aircraft carrier.

The Armaments of the KP-1 was modest, with only two 30-50mm autocannons and eight machine guns. They were usually used together in conjunction given this lack of firepower. Nordic aces would infamously aim for the cockpits in attack passes to make the most of their low firepower bringing high amounts of fatalities.

The first war the KP-1 was in the War against the Catholic Coalition. The Holy Roman Empire, Kingdom of France, Roman Empire, and Teutonic went on the offensive to bring the pagan land of the north under the power of the Vatican. Denmark was conquered, having been lost when the Holy Roman Empire was defeated in the Norse-German war. Though their ships were decimated the coalition used their superior aircraft to great effect against the Norse ships. The KP-1 was developed, and managed to turn the war around. It's slow speed made it struggle at first, but when used in defense of ships alongside anti aircraft fire the Coalition aircraft were decimated. In the end Denmark was taken back, and the Coalition suffered a humiliating defeat.

Not Long after the War against the Catholic Coalition the Soviet Union would come upon the Nordic Lands, seeking to purge the pagans and succeed where the Vatican failed. Though largely without their naval forces the Nords put up a strong resistance against the soviet advance, having developed other aircraft and gained experience against the Coalition. Nordic Aces despite being in slower planes were able to match the Soviet Aces, killing many with their tactics of shooting at the cockpit. In the end the Nords managed to win the skies and win the war and drive the Soviets from their lands.

Emboldened by their victories against the Ottomans the Mongolian Khanate air force would take it's forces along the northern sea to challenge the Nords. Though it was a very costly victory the Nords managed to defeat the turret planes of the Khanate, though they would have some fear of the Khanate given their erratic bombing campaigns on the various cities.

The first defeat of the Nords would come in their attempted invasion of the Kingdom of Scotland. Despite winning naval battles decisively the mainland held out against them while the Scottish Aces would ultimately overcome their air force. The KP-1 and Nordic military's reputation of never losing a war was lost, though the aircraft did not lose much of its overall fame.

Between and during wars, like with most Valkyrie aircraft to follow it, the KP-1 became popular for purchase by naval bands of air and sea Vikings. They proved useful for bands of traders, explorers, and naval pirates alike. The lucrative selling of the aircraft to pirate bands both Nordic and even of other lands made it an infamous aircraft for traveling merchants at sea and air to fear. Along with the usual salvaged war casualties, air pirates often purchased such aircraft from the pirate friendly Nordic Confederation, often modifying them to improve their performance. Though more expensive than salvaging war casualties they generally proved worth an air pirate's investment.

The KP-1 has remained an aircraft famous within the Nordic lands and infamous beyond. Valkyrie proved itself as a company, and would go on to produce many more aircraft. It was also branded a symbol of pagan savagery and piracy among Catholic Lands.
