The Byzantine Air force's Lak-1 was a fighter that proved worthy of it's place of origin the city of Sparta. A Tough and well rounded fighter which proved more than worthy of use by ace and common pilot alike. The Design was so well rounded there was little change to it over the years from when it was first introduced. Only major change being the B variant's inclusion of a Contra-Rotating propeller system.

The Lak was made with toughness and versatility in mind a good amount of armor with a large and powerful Spartan-12 engine more than capable of powering it to an adequate speed and maneuverability. The simple mostly cylindrical fuselage offered decent aerodynamics and a plenty of room for the large Spartan-12 Engine and the plane's armaments. It's climb rate is only average though it proved capable of reaching high enough altitudes to reach most enemy bombers. It's dogfighting performance was by no means top class as most enemy planes beat it in that aspect.

Despite this the performance was well enough that a skilled pilot could easily hold their own and a less than skilled pilot would have some leeway in it's armor. The wings were notably built very sturdy to where they were even harder to shoot off than those of the Roman's armored interceptor. Primary armament consisted of two 20 or 30mm autocannons on the lower nose section and two on each wing. Secondary armament Consisted of four 12.7mm machine guns on the upper section of the nose and two on each rear wing. Rocket pods could also be added for extra firepower, as well as bombs for decent use in limited air to ground roles.

Though not as famed it was still an important aircraft in the Mediterranean wars. It faired well against the more agile but weaker Malak-Ta-1 fighters. As much as the Roman Aces hated to admit it the Lak's were a helpful asset given the A-1's severe weakness in Dogfighting. The reliability of the fighter was enough to make it a popular choice for air forces of Catholic military orders such as the Templars despite them coming from an Orthodox empire.

In the Novogorod-Soviet War the Byzantine's ally found the Lak to be an invaluable war machine faring fare better than the A1's would when facing the fearsome Soviet Mak-1 and 2's. Tough enough to take their hits while good enough at dogfighting to carry a fighting chance. With it and the assistance of Byzantine aces alongside some mercenaries the Novogorod Republic was ultimately able to hold back the Soviet attack.

Novogorod would remain Neutral in the Romano-Soviet War but the Lak-1 still saw action from the Byzantines as they allied with their western neighbors against the Atheistic Communist Republic. Attempting to invade the large and powerful Soviet land however proved a foolish endeavor which the Byzantines pulled out of quickly before the Romans went on to suffer a disastrous defeat. Though limited in it's action the Lak proved once more to be a match for the more agile Soviet aircraft.

The Lak faced it's greatest adversary when up against the Mongol Khanate's Tm-2, 3, and 4's. Flying turrets designed to be able to attack from multiple angles mostly free from the need for conventional dogfighting tactics. The unconventional yet effective tactics these craft employed proved overwhelming at first to the Byzantine aces, resulting in many losses in the air. Soon enough however they fought back and managed to prevent themselves from losing any more territory before driving the Mongols back.

The Lak remains in use, a well rounded design not to easily reach obsolescence. Whether a beginner pilot, or a seasoned ace, the Lak-1 has always remained a useful and versatile fighter.
