Lanre is a past monarch of the Night Pride who lived long, long ago, having been born around the same time as a lion who would go on to become the First King of the Pridelands. He is hardly the first monarch of the Night Pride as they have been around since animalkind came into existence, but how long ago that was is unknown and lost to time, so Lanre is the first monarch to be remembered by name.

When Lanre succeeds his parents as the Night Pride's new monarch, the Tree Of Life is still sealed off from the outside world, as several generations prior a past monarch closed off the entrance to the kingdom following an attack from some vicious outsiders. This caused the Night Pride's existence to fade away into legend to the animals of the outside world as well as the pride's lions to lose an incredible power that the Great Spirit had granted them to protect others. According to legend, the Great Spirit declared that the power would return someday, but only through a lion outside of the Night Pride. Once he becomes king, Lanre decides to to reopen the entrance to the kingdom for the first time in generations. His mate Ngara and a few other animals are against this, with some claiming that this would put them at risk to attacks from dangerous animals and others claim that the old legends were nothing more than fairy tales. But Lanre argues that the Tree of Life was originally meant to be a special haven for outside animals that needed their help and since they've been sealed off from the outside world for so long that would eventuallhy need to welcome fresh blood anyway. So with help from some of the kingdom's strongest animals, the entrance to the kingdom is opened once again.

Sure enough, it isn't long before animals from the outside world start coming to the Tree Of Life to be healed once again. Some leave shortly after their ailments are healed, but some animals choose to stay as the territory surrounding the tree hosted biomes of every extreme right next to each other, making it an ideal new home for some. Lanre is very kind to the animals that seek healing and doens't turn away a single one, although he and Ngara would often get into arguements on whether or not reopening the entrance was a good idea. While making his rounds around the kingdom one day, Lanre comes across an injured lion and brings him back to the Tree Of Life to be treated for his wounds. The male introduces himself as Askari, and Lanre allows him to stay for as long as he needed.

And just as the old legends predicted, the incredible power that the lions of the Night Pride once wielded ended up coming back through him.

While wandering through Cikha Escarpment one day, Askrai ends up discovering the Roar Of The Elders and spends the next few weeks learning how to use this newfound ability. After saving the Tree Of Life from a fire that could've killed several animals, Askari decides to use this incredible ability to defend others, which Lanre strongly approves of. After Askari leaves to return to his homeland, Lanre and Ngara welcome a daughter into the world and raise her to always be kind to others and never turn away an animal that needed help. In time, she succeeds her parents as the new monarch and takes a lion that had apparently been sired by Askari as her mate.

Many generations later, a lion that possessed the Roar Of The Elders would come to the Tree Of Life and help protect it from danger once again.
