Drawing of Mr. David Bowie, May 2010It's the first portrait I've drawn in what feels like ages. Particularly when trying not to sketch.
I drew it with brand new Staedtler Pencils - I've never used them before so they took a bit getting used to.
Bristol Board 220gsm
4H, 2H, H, F & Mechanical Pencils
6-7 Hours
Approx 8x8"
My scanner wasn't quite big enough to fit the whole image in so you can see the bottom has been cut off. Never mind!

i love bowie. i was just listening to him, actually. i love those de-ja-vu moments (if you could call it that) where you've been thinking about something or doing something and then you suddenly see something that relates to that. ....wow, long explanation.

wow! pencil, really? here are portions of that that look like bits of watercolor - love the picture and is that really david bowie? when i think david bowie, i think of the goblin king and 80's hair...

Yeah, it was drawn with Staedtler pencils and a blending stick. I loved him as Jareth but when I think David Bowie I tend to think "musical genius"! Thanks for commenting!

Ah, thanks so much! Yeah, he truly is a living legend. It's amazing what he's achieved in his lifetime. I wish I had but an ounce of his genius and creativity.

Ha! I doubt that, he's a fair artist himself. I've not been so lucky to see him live but if he were to tour again I'd be willing to pay a good amount for a ticket.
