Description I've been rather absent from deviantArt lately. For this, I apologize. Most of my time is spent on Tumblr, because it's just so darn addicting. I do still visit this place from time to time, though. I haven't forgotten you guys!

Again, I won't even bother to explain this, 'cause you guys would probably laugh at me. Heh. This... does kind of represent something of a milestone, though. Well, perhaps not a milestone, but it's significant. A good percentage of the time, I have to refer to references whenever I draw. Not this time. Lately, I've been trying harder to draw things without references. The results are not... too favorable, but I like them well enough to post them up.

so cute! I'm so proud that you're veering away from references~ Not saying that they aren't important, they are! but its also good to learn to draw things when references aren't available

Thanks, Shiori!

Agreed! I've been working more on just doing my own thing, or, at least, switching up the poses a bit and making my work more caricatured when using references.

Thanks, again!

Well, when it's difficult you know you're learning (or something like that).

I think the composition is a little confusing. To me it appears like they are looking past and to the left of the window. This is largely because of the corner of the wall on the left. It indicates that the window must be further back in space than where they are standing. Also, the potted tree is such an interesting character and shape in the image, that it draws attention away from the window. It almost stands out as the subject your characters are viewing.

Here's a quick paintover: [link] and a doodle to describe how you might make the scene read more clearly.

Ha-ha. That's for sure!

Yes. Good point. I noticed that myself and will definitely have to watch out for that next time. Regarding the tree, that's an interesting point. I didn't think that it would stand out so much, but, looking at it again, you're right.

Wow! Gee whiz. What a difference.... Your version is beautiful, even though it's very simple. The perspective, lighting, and layout are all appealing. What a great example. Thank you so much! You're so nice, taking the time out of your day to actually draw out how I could improve my work. No one else does that, save for my parents. I really do appreciate it, for it helps me to see my short-comings. Thank you!
