Description
Astrotrain is another favorite of mine and was one of my favorite toys as a kid. I used a pose from the original cartoon as reference and I decided to detail him based more on the original toy design than the animated versions.

Astrotrain is a murderous thug that revels in the confusion he causes as a triple changer. With the ability to change between shuttle, locomotive and robot modes instantaneously Astrotrain uses this ability to perplex his enemies and strike at them without mercy.

Astrotrain takes sadistic glee in the fact that his enemies don’t know what just hit them. Knowing that his enemy’s last thoughts were a tangle of fear and panic keeps Astrotrain happy when he’s performing his more mundane task a transporter of teammates and supplies to and from battles.

Astrotrain is one of the first Decepticons modified by Shockwave into a Triple Changer and he has the ability to change between forms almost twice as fast as the average Transformer.

In train mode Astrotrain has a maximum speed of 400 miles per hour with a range of 1700 miles. In shuttle mode he can expand his size and cargo bay by shifting his internal parts farther out to make more space for cargo or several transformers.

On his own he can reach escape velocity traveling at 20,000 miles per hour in orbit and 50,000 miles per hour in outer space. With a sufficient amount of Energon Astrotrain is capable of interstellar flight.

In robot mode Astrotrain carries an ionic displacer rifle that can permanently destroy circuitry. Due to the tight compression of his parts in robot mode he has tremendous physical strength compared to the average transformer.
