Description Character Profile: Mira Shan

Height: 5’6”

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Homeworld: Coruscant

Build: Gangly, athletic, flexible.

Eyes: Blue

Age: 17

Hair: Black, cut to roughly three inches in length, always a mess.

Skin Tone: Tanned white.

Clothing Style: A simple fitted grey flight suit.

Unique physical features: She always wears a simple silver bracelet on her left wrist.

Unique abilities: She can augment her physical moves through discrete use of the force in a pinch.

Noteworthy: Mira was considered the top of her group, a prodigy, until the Jedi Temple fell under attack when she was twelve. She and a small group of four other young Jedi were able to escape the temple, surviving on the streets for six months until they could leave the capital of the newly formed empire. She and her friends have been on the run ever since, usually with her calling the shots as to where to go and when to move. She was one of two Younglings in the group to advance far enough in their training to construct her lightsaber before the Temple fell and almost every Jedi in it was killed.

Weapon of choice: Though she prefers to use hand-to-hand combat, so as not to reveal who she and her friends are, she has a single bladed, blue lightsaber with a hilt not unlike Ahsoka Tano’s weapon, but with groves along the shaft for better grip.

Well, a fledgling Jedi, anyway. And yes, yes it should.

IS SHE RELATED TO BASTILA. REALLY DISTANTLY.

So, whether you know it or not, you keep using surnames of well-known EU characters.

OH COME ON! I ACTUALLY CAME UP WITH THIS ONE WITHOUT ANY REFERENCES OR NAME GENERATORS I WAS REALLY PLEASED WITH IT!

But no, no relation.

Any thoughts on, y'know, the actual character?

Haha! I'm really sorry that this keeps happening to you! I'm not saying it doesn't sound good (it does). Besides, the events of your story and those of Knights of the Old Republic are separated by several thousand years.

As for the character herself, it's hard to critique much given that it's a fairly barebones profile. That said, it establishes an interesting premise of a quasi-Jedi using her wits and fledgling knowledge of the Force to evade bounty hunters looking to cash in on the Purge bounties. What sort of conflict are you going to go for here? I could definitely see her arch-nemesis as an ex-Jedi-turned-bounty-hunter who belonged to her youngling clan prior to the Purge. Or something like that, anyway.

I assume her bracelet is also significant?

Very annoying. And thank you. OK then that should pretty well show that they aren’t related then.

Fair enough. As for the conflict, I’m still working out the particulars, but it should be along the lines of someone finally finding them and them having to use any means at their disposal to escape.

A bit. You’ll find out later. It’s significant, though I warn you now, not to the plot. More just to her.

Yup. Or, if anything, some people might think it's a nod to the character of Bastila and the relation is distant and has no bearing on the plot or the character herself anyway.

As in... morals/Jedi-Code-compromising-means?

Fair enough

So, my sis was over her best friend Hannah's house overnight last night and most if the day today. I was upstairs when I heard her come home, so I went down to see. I greeted her arrival with "I sense a disturbance in the force." And then she punched me in the gut (such things rarely hurt me, so it's pretty common for her to do things like that).

That dream! Most of it was great, but I don't know how to feel about the ending. Except that I should obviously have a rainbow lightsaber. Because that's just how I defeat my enemies.

It's sound advice, but the fact that I can't just cut off her head and be done is annoying. I think it was green in the first bit and either purple or blue or white in the second bit. It's kinda hazy.

Also that is super adorable! I think I've seen them on tumblr!

That phrase will never be the same and that is fine with me.

You'll get there. Dreams are frustrating that way. Always hard to remember.

I had on recently in which I was semi-lucid and when I concentrated I could fly and crash through glass without being hurt. Very short, but it is my favorite dream.

It is my favorite thing on the internet that tumblr led me to.

partial-quatrefoil In reply to MJTism [2014-01-29 01:41:47 +0000 UTC]

I like its new meaning!

I used to have this recurring semi-lucid dream when I was younger that Peter Pan came to take me to Neverland. But I had a lot of trouble flying. I usually had to take a flying leap off the top of my stairs. Lucid dreaming is trippy.

Tumblr is a wonderful place

That happens to me all the time!

Anyway, I'm fairly certain you can train yourself to lucid dream or somethin'. I bet you do have amazing adventures in your sleep, you just don't remember them. To remember a dream, you have to wake up for a moment. There's actual science behind that fact. So maybe you're just a sound sleeper?

MJTism In reply to partial-quatrefoil [2014-01-29 04:58:54 +0000 UTC]

Maybe that's why I remember this recent one. I was half awake for most of it. And yeah, that sounds like me.

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you can't move your body but you're aware of it? It's called something like sleep paralysis. Or those dreams where you keep trying to wake up only to realize that you're still dreaming and then it's like inception.

MJTism In reply to partial-quatrefoil [2014-01-30 02:51:25 +0000 UTC]

I've woken up and been completely unable to move before, but that might just be cause I was tired. Never with the inception stuff though.

MJTism In reply to partial-quatrefoil [2014-02-01 06:55:38 +0000 UTC]

It's just that I've been having those this week at pretty random times. Once I got home from school and just flopped down in blanket for half an hour because I couldn't be bothered to do anything whatsoever. That one makes a degree of sense, however sudden it may have been. And then last night I had that same feeling come on only it was around ten at night and totally unprompted. Another thing is, I was feeling all strung out and stressed during these to the point of being sick to my stomach when I had literally nothing to worry about. IDK I just felt like I should talk about this and I wanted more ideas than just the ones my mom came up with cause this worries me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

partial-quatrefoil In reply to MJTism [2014-02-02 22:57:28 +0000 UTC]

Huh. I wish I had a more concrete response, but I'll try my best here. I think that sort of apathy and listlessness generally results from being stressed and a little burned out. I mean, think about it -- you just came off a super stressful week of exams, during which you studied hard and worried even harder. And, yeah, you got a weekend break, but that wasn't enough to really unwind before it's back to the grind. Teachers are probably loading you up with oodles of homework, and it's just a bit much for you right now. This happens to everybody except robots who are masquerading as people, so you're not alone in this.

I don't think this means that there is anything wrong with you. Everybody has a limit and you've just temporarily touched on the outer edges, so maybe you're head's like fuck this I'm out for a little while and then you snap out of it. You just need to let some of that tension go, either through exercise or better sleep habits or carving out some time for yourself to do something that truly lets you unwind.

That all aside, I'm curious -- how are you sleeping? Do you have a regular schedule or is it erratic? Is there something in particular you're concerned or anxious about? Was there some incident recently that upset you? Any or all of these things might be contributing factors to your general feelings of malaise.

Still, I wouldn't be too worried. If you feel that these little episodes persist, increase in frequency, or last longer, then it might be time to consider more serious implications, but for now you shouldn't worry. You're young and healthy and active, so I doubt there's a biological cause (unless it's puberty kicking you to the curb, because hormone imbalances are a bitch).

MJTism In reply to partial-quatrefoil [2014-02-03 03:40:52 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough. I kinda suspected that too. I actually did well for the most part (which confuses me cause I did not study nearly as much as I should have), bit that doesn't take away from the stressing bits I suppose.

Are you going all medical student on me? Really? Well, to be honest I'd say my sleep habits are consistent, if nothing else. I took more naps than usual LST week (meaning I took naps) but for the most part I'm OK now. Thanks for the advice.

partial-quatrefoil In reply to MJTism [2014-02-03 04:18:36 +0000 UTC]

That's good! I never had to study in high school. Which meant that college smacked me in the face like a ton of bricks. Protip: study a lot in college.

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!

Okay, I did sort of mean to. But there might be a real underlying thing going on like too little sleep! I'm not saying you're not smart enough to work this out for yourself or anything, but sometimes it helps to have somebody else point things out.

But, again, I wouldn't be concerned unless things take a turn for the worse

Yup

I will... Eventually... I just don't like the part where dragons swoop in on you when you're just minding your own business ><'

But I made the mistake on Viari! Viari, who looks perfect and has the perfect skillset and has the perfect name and is essentially my perfect character except the Stormcloak thing. And, technically it goes along with her storyline (the one in my head, anyway) in which she joined the Stormcloaks a while ago and later regretted it, but still. STILL.

I KNOW! The other day I was running from a saber cat, got ambushed by solve which allowed the cat to catch up, finally lost them all, then ran into a bear at which point I shimmied up the mountain I was next to and nearly get killed by an ice wolf at the top. And then after I killed the wolf I walked down the other side of the mountain right into a forsworn camp which I narrowly escaped. I which I was kidding.
