Michael Moorcock's Elric, with his bitchy sword, Stormbringer, in full battle regalia.Wendy Pini's("Elfquest") awesome artwork in honor of the books "The Stealer of Souls" and "Stormbringer" inspired me to actually read them. They make me feel like a twelve year old boy--its like reading old-school comic books without any of the pictures. x.x
I'm listening to an elven albino guy kill people and whine for 500 pages. I still dont get why every woman he meets wants to shag him. I dont want to shag him. I want him to stop with the 'girl-wife' and take up a hobby, like golfing or stock-brokering. Him and his sword have this smothering sexual subtext . The sword MOANS, people. It kills his girlfriends, boyfriends and pet parakeets, and moans. And he gets all shallow breathed when he talks to it. @.@

OOOOh Elriiicc! *does the fantard dance* Heheh, I loved these for the old-school comic book factor, but more for the whiny, elven albino with a bloodthirsty sword, crazy chaos lords (who were always hitting on him) and other sexay sword and sorcery business!
Which reminds me... Heard of Neil Gaiman's 'One life'? From what I remember it's a comic about a 12 year old(?) Elric fanboy... the smothering sexual subtext is addressed too ofcourse! And what better artist to draw it out than Mr P. Craig Russel!

I have never heard of this "One Life" buisness, but admittedly I tend to avoid Gaiman. x.x Though, a 12 year old elric fanboy does indeed seem to summarize the entire experience of reading the books

I always wondered though...I don't think Stormbringer as an entity is ever described. x.x Stormbringer as a sword is lavishly described, but not so much when it assumes a person-like shape...O.o

I think I was officially 14 when I discovered the yaoi. As a kid I had read "Interview with the Vampire" and "Elfquest" but I suppose I just didn't have the hormones to properly appreciate it! It was just "those two guys have a unique relationship. Laadeedaaa (frolic onward)!" And then one day suddenly the man-tension was hot. Oh, and I had boobs. Don't know how that happened, dude. x.x
