Description You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me...

A map that Wyyt wanted me to work on and take a stab at. Personally, I think it's good. Go thank him for the idea.

Can you please tell us more about the states?

Go ask Wyyt about them, he made the scenario.

New Zealand came very close to being a state of Australia, to the point that Canberra Ave. in Canberra was actually going to be named Wellington Ave. after the capital of our country. Too bad our prime minister at the time,Β Richard Seddon, thought that New Zealand would become the Britain of Asia, and would thus have to remain independent. But maybe that's a good thing for the Maori population due to laws enacted during the lost generation.

I'm pretty sure that's why Wyyt included NZ in it here. I mean, it was party to the Federation at first, but then withdrew. Then there's the whole business with Papua New Guinea. And yeah, it's probably for the best, because that means NZ gets to have a national anthem and the world needs more multilingual anthems.

Australia don't annex New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Ask Wyyt about it. He made the idea, I just made the map. Also, during the process of Federation, New Zealand and Fiji were part of it initially, but later dropped out of the discussion (trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/art… ). And as for Papua New Guinea, it was indeed under Australian governance for a time, starting with the Papua Act 1905 (www.legislation.gov.au/Details… ).

No, I said that Australia can't annex New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands because New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands doesn't become Australian states.

I don't fully understand what you're trying to say. They did annex them in this timeline, because it isΒ an alternate history, and they could realistically have been part of Australia given historical events that if changed slightly could result in this scenario.

Interesting, especially the flags.

They're all Wyyt 's designs.

It's good to see them at higher resolution.

Nice flags, but they're pretty repetitive IMO.

Wyyt In reply to DinoSpain [2018-07-24 18:53:25 +0000 UTC]

I was worried about that. I designed them all to look fairly close to one another, so that they held up as part of a rather unitary republican ideology. But the more I look at them the more I think I should have made them more varied.

tard15 In reply to Wyyt [2018-07-25 02:00:46 +0000 UTC]

eh, not as repetitive as the real things IMO

the only ones that are glaringly "samey" are New Ulster/Cooksland and New Munster/Eureka..

as the idea behind the art is down to you, any chance of a rough timeline? or PoD?

Wyyt In reply to tard15 [2018-07-25 02:12:56 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I have a journal here where I talked about this world. I was considering doing a world map of it, just for fun, as well as my own take on the art in a much smaller and more pixel-y scale.
