love the colors in the mane and tail, but according to some of my research, you kinda botched up on the hands, body structure and head.

When drawn in a more traditionally depicted style, Asian dragons have longer, more snakelike bodies and necks then their European counterparts. Their bodies are covered with 108 thick, carp like scales , half of which are charged with yin energy and the other half charged with yang energy. the combination of such energies manifests around the shoulder blades and ankles/ wrists in what is surmised by ancient scholars to be a type of heavenly "body fire" in place where they would have wings- allowing them to utilize the earth's lay-line's magnetic fields to fly.

The head, while having the proper barbel placement would probably look better without the beak and with more of a mammalian esque muzzle due to the fact that Asian dragons are supposed to have "presumably" the head structure of either a Lion or a horse. The mane seems a tad thin around the back part of the jawline as well, but then again it's all up to artistic rendering and creativity.

For the hands, depending on which area you draw your inspiration from (China, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, etc...) the further west you go is how many fingers the dragon would have. if memory serves, in china an Imperial gold dragon has 3 fingers/ toes and one thumb/ dew claw on each of it's feet. conversely, in Japan, Imperial dragons have four toes/ fingers and one thumb/ dew claw on each of their feet.

all in all though, you've done a wonderful job with the color scheme and melding the shadows in with the highlights, as well as showing the difference in techniques when light hits different textures on the body. The yellows are bright and viberent, the oranges and reds deep with fiery hues that would make gemstones blush in envy. the greens are a bit.... eh, muted though. I surmise you were going for a muted or tarnished bronze color when you were working with them. if I may be so bold, might I ask you to try for a second go at this image to work out the kinks and refine some of the techniques and color schemes?

Honestly? I drew this while waiting for my flat tire to be fixed. No references, no inspiration from any established dragon styles, or anatomical considerations. Just the image in my head coming straight out of the end of my pencil.

Sometimes art is just art.

good point on sometimes art being just art. ah well, still, great job on the use of bold colors. what'd you use to get such viberent hues in the hair? prismacolor? copec marker? combos therein?

Ooooh, Bronze! I was debating using a Bronze dragon in my D&D session, but the chatty copper won out.

Absolutely stunning!

You're right, I'm workin' on one myself as we speak. Great job with the personality here, and that scrapbook paper gives it a real antiquated look. Love It!!!
