I dug up one of my early Tengu sketches to do this version of Kirin for *Neomae 's GGPP project. If you signed up to draw something for it, time's running out -- Deadline's June 1st!!(Which, coincidentally is the opening day of A-kon -- I'm getting my stuff out of the way early 'cause I'll be BUSY.)

I feel for him. Though I have never lost a mate, the pain of loneliness, is a pain I know all to well.
wonderful job coloring, he looks soft, but at the same time hard like steel, and he looks guarded, trying so hard to keep in control, when in fact he's losing it. All thanks to a fiery traveler, who's stirring up some very intense emotions.

I'm thinking that this was the scene where Ariana catches him watching the mated Tengu couples settling down for the day.

I can even imagine how painful was for Kirin playing the tough guy with Ari just to not listening to his heart. Now thanks to his so-called rookery brother, Kirin is being forced to close his ears to his heart again. Although Kirin´s faith is eternal, the same can´t be said about his patience and the fighting with Happa show us that. Let´s see how long Kirin can be patient with kai before he pin the clan leader on the floor and say "I´m going to court Ariana whenever i like and if those brats wishes to do the same, they must court my sword first".

Yeah, you do know that Happa is Kai's son, right? I don't think that the Ishimuran leader woul put up eith Kirin threatening to kill his on over a girl. But you're right. Those two assholes need to back off and let someone who loves Ariana for Ariana, and not for her heritage, court her.

I feel sorry for Kai. He thought that Kirin is just a chess paw, so knocking him off of the chess board would be very easy. But when he sent his paw, aka Happa, to knock Kirin off, the leader realized that Kirin is not a paw. He is a QUEEN!! And a queen is the most dangerous piece of a chess play because it can be moved in all directions.
About Ariana, I'd say that thanks to Kirin she now knows the true meaning of lovimg someone and being loved and now she is very strict in the choice of a male. Her demands are very simple: Love me for what i am, "the impulsive daughter of Brooklyn and Sata" and not the "honorable daughter of the ancestress of Ishimura and the legendary time dancer".
