Description Alternate Names: N/A
Latin Name: Scolopax inexplicablis

Although there are real birds known as 'snipes', the Fearsome Critter of the same name is nothing like them. It is tiny (only a few inches tall), with a round body and three legs -- two at the front, one at the rear -- and had a back covered in fur and a belly of feathers. It has a large hooked beak, one eye has a vertical pupil while the other has a horizontal, and its plumage comes in greens pinks, and blues, with gold accents. Its very hard to spot, and was impossible to capture, and newbies to any logging camp were often sent on the proverbial 'snipe hunt' as a a sort of hazing ritual; it was a wild goose chase that no one could actually complete.

My version here I based on a combination of pheasant, grouse, and eagle. I tried to make the colors at least have SOME normalcy and not be bright unnatural ones, but I don't know if it worked all that well.

What exactly IS a Fearsome Critter?
