Pretty Maids In A RowA companion piece to my Kitchen Maid's Nightmare. I'm still playing around with designs for The Somnambulist Club series and this rather creepy piece came out of my scrap pile of ideas.

There is something slightly wicked about this. I like it, for sure! The sepia tones and subtle brushwork make it special, giving it an antique feeling. Well done..

deathly and quiet. very well done, but to be honest i cant look at it too long... it makes me feel kinda odd. how old is the source photo? looks very old, and maybe the women in the picture literally are gone? the feeling i get is more sad than creepy, but it a bit creepy as well... great job, really instilled a lot of emotion in this.

Nice! I like the way you repeated the 'maids' in larger in the background.... I have an odd feeling that they're all doomed for some reason... Like this is the last image anyone will see of them. It's nifty.

As soon as I saw this at full size I thought of 'The Handmaid's Tale' by Margaret Atwood, a novel which I've always very much admired...
I really like how you've set the image inside itself, like a still from a movie camera, it has an eerie feeling and is fascinating to look at, especially their dresses and their expressions. Love what you did with the typography, it all looks very balanced and with the understated lettering giving way to the main elements of the image. Great title too, ironic because they look so solemn and your treatment of the photo emphasises their solemnity. I think this is a great addition to your Somnambulist Club series ...

Very cool. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but the differences in contrast (such as the relatively sharp contrast of the bottom of the dresses/skirts and the very low contrast of the arms) is a bit odd. Very neat concept, though, and well executed.
