Jane 'Foucault' Shepard is Renegade with some paragon choices. She's distant and typically a hard ass. There are few people who actually consider her a friend -- and only one person whose 'affections' she's acknowledged (To be fair, he had to trick her into admitting it).

There's a reason she's distant. You'd be too if you were betrayed by your family, your gangs, your friends, your allies, and everyone else under the moon. Sometimes its easier to piss people off than get close and lose them.

Garrus and Shepard have a relationship that is more along the lines of Fran & Balthier / Batou & Motoko. It could be interpreted as sexual, or not. Neither label it, they are what they are: loyal to one another. However, there are tense moments. Since both characters have been thrown together in an end of the world sort of way, Shepard has adopted Garrus' facial tattoos. One big fuck you to Cerberus, the Alliance, and everyone else. One important visible sign of friendship, constantly reminding Garrus he still has someone who cares.

They are kindred spirits.

Foucault is named after the philosopher, Michel Foucault, and her character highly draws from his beliefs.
