Description handheld capture of a little dandelion that appears to be nearly finished with its current task

lit by natural light but i blackened around the edges of the image to enhance the impact of the dandelion in the centre.

i'm really pleased and proud of this photograph and i am still surprised how little work i did to create it - usually i spend ages on my photographs in photoshop tweaking and playing and perfecting like traditional photographers used to do when they would pretty much live in their darkrooms. with this photograph it is mostly all from camera using sunlight and i think about all i did was add a +2 level of contrast adjustment layer. most of the black background was the shadow area behind the dandelion with an inch thick blended edge of black i added to increase the impact of the central area. it looks like it was photographed inside but in reality it was bright sunshine, blue sky and a white wall along the side of my garden - i recall the camera was set at down -1 f-stop, f8 or f11, sigma 105mm f2.8 macro (not name dropping lol) fully extended out for x2 lifesize macro, 1/250 and handheld.
i look forward to doing more images like as enjoyable as this

anyway i'm waffling so shall end here

thanks for the kind comment and the feature in your dandelion article - i appreciate that a lot.

this image has really captured me (no pun intended) to the point i have put it on my desktop. i have been photographing a few dandelion images recently and capturing them from alternative angles. lately i have been doing a lot of low lighting themed photographs so i shall now happily add this one to my growing collection

thank you so much for your kind words. the thing im most pleased with this image is that it is exactly how i visualised in my mind how i wanted to portray a dandelion - i didn't want to simply grab a shot of a whole one on grass as it could be a little dull - i wanted to portray what really makes a dandelion what it is by getting in close - also i think they make a far more interesting photograph by capturing the flower at some stage where you can really see there is a story there - the knackered bud with barely any seeds left. in a way i feel an image like this could be used to portray something like the tragedy of a homeless person but the potential there for a better future. this dandelion is now on my pc desktop standing proud representing how my life has been for some years. thanks again m8

no problem at all. I am glad that i featured this and yes i love your thinking and the way to visualize objects around you. I agree, to see the world properly, you need to give everything a close look and then you will see the real beauty of the world!
