Description
When: September 23, 2021
Where: Natura ARTIS Magistra Amsterdam, The Netherlands
When you become the most interesting presence at the zoo - yes, it was me with my rainbow-colored hair, colorful tattoo and half-mechanic watch, not any of the animals - your sister has plenty of time to take advantage of the silly faces the Giraffe was making
I was actually trying to do the same thing, but I had to entertain a class of small kids You'd think they're used to colorful people in Amsterdam of all places, but nope. And I missed all the great faces of the Giraffe, who seemed to delight in doing it with few people watching
Species: Reticulated or Somali Giraffe (Netgiraf)
Latin name: Giraffa Camelopardalis Reticulata
Originates from Somalia, southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya.
Current status: Not Evaluated
Did you know:
…The Reticulated Giraffe has very clearl defined dark patches in it’s pelt, with bright-whitish channels between them. For that reason it can be distinguished from the Rothshchild’s and Masai Giraffe.
