Description
When: June 1, 2019
Where: Park Berg en Bos/ Apenheul Apeldoorn, The Netherlands
We tend to stay at the zoo until late (because we like sending the Lemurs off to bed) and even if we do leave earlier than that, we tend to take the wrong route back. It is a lot quieter, and it leads us around the pond - a pond that is home to many species of Waterfowl. We loved seeing this stunning Duck and her Ducklings, and they're the reason why we always take this route now
Species: Mallard or Wild Duck (Wilde eend)
Latin name: Anas Platyrhynchos
Originates from the temperate and subtropical Americas, Europe, Asia and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand and Australia.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…Male Mallards are called “drakes”.
