As her villain name would imply, Scream's Quirk allows her to release a powerful, hyper-sonic scream from her mouth. These screams can range in power from strong enough to blow back several people, to strong enough to send even large vehicles flying. The true danger of her Quirk lies in the side effects that it imparts onto people affected by it, however. The side effects of being hit by her screams mimic the effects humans often experience under prolonged exposure to Infra sound, which in turn causes them to experience heightened emotional stress as well as other negative side effects. In essence, her scream is strong enough to send people flying and leave them emotionally unstable afterwards. Due to a genetic abnormality, Scream's Quirk is significantly more powerful and more dangerous when she is in close proximity to her twin Brother.
Bio:
Riruka Madarame and her brother, Akira Madarame, were born to a poverty-stricken family somewhere in the Hokkaido Province. Their mother abandoned them very early on in their lives, never to be seen again, and thus leaving them in the care of their father. Despite the grueling living conditions, Riruka's father never ceased to love and care for both her and her twin brother, Akira, and the three of them had an incredibly strong bond.
Early life was difficult for both of the twins inside and out of home, as their father pursued more criminal acts in order to provide for the two of them. He also ensured that the two of them received proper schooling, believing that they could avoid making the same mistakes he made growing up and ensuring that they would soon have better lives for themselves. Even at school, the twin siblings were nigh inseparable, often getting into trouble nearly every day due to the two of them constantly trying to stay around each other as close as possible, even when it wasn't appropriate.
Riruka in particular was very clingy to her brother, Akira, and hated being forced to interact with other students, who often mocked and bullied the pair of siblings due to both of them looking similar to each other. This naturally led to the two of them getting into several fights and receiving disciplinary action afterwards, but it heavily strengthened the already firm bond that Riruka and Akira shared with one another. After a point, Riruka's father was forced to pull both of his children out of the school due to their constant disruptions and bad behavior.
One night, after a failed robbery attempt, Riruka's father was attacked and pursued by a particularly overzealous Pro Hero. The Hero chased him back to their home and relentlessly attacked him, putting both Akira and Riruka under extreme duress. Unable to stand seeing her father be pummeled so, Riruka's Quirk awakened, and she released a devastatingly powerful scream from her mouth that destroyed the house around them. Angered by this, the Pro Hero attempted to silence Riruka, but Akira's Quirk had awakened at the same time and he managed to kill the Pro Hero before he could lay a hand on either of them. Despite this, their father tragically had passed away from his injuries, leaving the already disenfranchised children to fend for themselves.
From then on, the sibling pair took up their late father's criminal activities and became an alarmingly dangerous duo that almost always managed to elude or injure pursuing authorities, steadily evolving over the years from petty thieves to highly infamous and dangerous Villains that even some Pro-Heroes would rather avoid dealing with. Several authorities working with the Hero Commission have noted that the two twins share some sort of genetic abnormality or defect that causes both of their Quirks to become incredibly more powerful than usual when they are both in close proximity to each other, which just makes the two of them even higher priorities for them to apprehend and bring to justice.
Trivia:
- She and her brother, Rage, are both based off of a duo of antagonists from the video game, Ace Combat 7 who are also named "Rage" and "Scream," sharing visual and personality traits of the two.
- In addition to having their Quirks be strengthened by being close to each other, Rage and Scream both appear to be immune to each other's Quirks, respectively. Rage isn't affected by Scream's shouts, and her being angry doesn't trigger Rage's Quirk either. This becomes less so when they are both far apart from one another.
- Her theme song is "A Stranger I Remain (original)" by Jamie Christopherson.
- While they are both twins and share villainous tendencies, Rage and Scream still bicker and argue over trivial things often. Rage is usually more direct and focused on the goal at hand, while Scream tends to wander off and cause more mayhem than necessary, which leads to attracting unwanted attention. As punishment, Rage usually pulls Scream's mask back before letting it go and slapping her eyes.
- Scream, in addition to having a powerful quirk, is also incredibly acrobatic and mobile, making her a formidable opponent even without taking her Quirk into consideration.
- While her brother Rage usually doesn't care who he is fighting, Riruka is only interested in fighting and killing female Heroes, and finds male Heroes to be "boring," but she will fight male Heroes if the situation (or Rage) demands it. She also has a habit of flirting with and making advances on her opponents regardless of their gender, which often annoys Rage.
