Believe it or believe it, I’m a romantic. I am seriously holding out that, somewhere, there is someone for me that inspires the kind of passion only seen in olde tyme Civil War letters. Allow me to explain…by paraphrasing another comedian’s joke:
Love, back in the day, was LOVE. Have you ever read Civil War letters to home? That is some of the most profound commitment ever penned to paper.

“To my dearest Charlotte,

There is death and carnage strewn about the land, it is so red that a literal hell-on-earth would be the only apt description, and still it is an unfit description. A man could lose all faith in humanity, if it were not for my knowledge that such a creature as you, my Charlotte, existed.

My heart continues to beat, if only for the chance to be pressed against your bosom one more time. My blood courses despite my torn flesh and illness, as if the thought of your visage is an antibody for the soul.

Cappy’s Rockin’ Rendition

Believe it or believe it, I’m also a sucker for sad stories. I think my fascination stems from the fact that most sad tales are pseudo psad . Many characters in games, movies, and (holy crap in) anime, pretend to be dead just so they can make a dramatic entrance when the remaining cast manages to fumble themselves into an inescapable deathtrap.

As stated, I seriously doubt I will ever get around to illustrating a comic based on the actual world of the Cappy Crew. I felt the urge to illustrate that, if I had my way, I’d go above and beyond to piss off fans. I think what would make my spin a little different, is that Cappy and Kasumi die a little midway into whatever story arc, shifting focus on the foil characters who can then be fleshed out as they try to cope with the trauma.

Kasumi’s Perspective

It was so hard. They decided that a female would be easier to break. They kept cutting him and cutting him. The training scenarios do not convey all the emotions you will feel. I was contemplating biting my tongue off for fear I would give out information.
Then the explosions happened.
Cappy was free with a violent jerk. He was too weak to offer any sort of daring rescue. I think the jerk dislocated his arm. The Woman Poachers took to abandoning ship.
It took him several moments to unlock my cell.
We made it as far as the corridor.
There was absolutely no way…
Cappy smiled that nervous smile that cocks awkwardly at an angle. It’s the one that he does when he becomes very nervous or scared. He showed it after our first kiss.

I showed the initiative for the first kiss. It was my first kiss. I think it was his first kiss. I considered what we were doing to be “date” scenarios. That specific night he had made a very awkward comment. I cannot remember the exact phrasing anymore. I took it as a compliment on my looks.
I took the initiative.
I think Cappy thought I was about to sneeze on him!
He grappled me and we fell down. He squeezed me so that he was the one to take the brunt of the ground.
I kissed him hard.

I want that kiss one more time.

We really screwed up this time. I mean, we all think that we’ll go down in a blaze of glory; punching the devil in his nads in one last defiant stand as God gives you a thumbs up!
Pssh, the captain of the ship isn’t even onboard. Luckily, Jack came thru and setup the bombs. So I guess being a decoy is not a wasteful death. It IS one of the biggest women trafficking ships… piloted by one of the most incompetent turds to be afloat in the sea.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter anymore. Jack did his part, the place is an oven, and I can’t really see a door or make out what Kasumi’s yelling at me about. Sadly, I don’t think it’s “WE SHOULD TOTALLY DO IT REAL QUICK ONE LAST TIME!!”

I don’t know if this sounds horrible, but I don’t feel bad that Kasumi is with me. Oh, of course I would rather have her escape…but to have her with me, it helped me keep some sort of composure.
Until I realized this was the last image I would have of her.
