Description I've decided to give a little character info about her this time.

Built in 1949, "Tinkerbell" was one of the new batch of engines to help replenish the engine that were either worn out or damaged during the war, while they were either overhauled or scrapped. Compared to her 1890's brothers and sisters, the differences were not that much, apart from bigger bunkers and stronger buffers and buffer beams. They were almost completely identical. During her time in her home land, she started out as a dock shunter, shunting the trucks and coaches on and off the ferry services that were still in place.

Upon her retirement, she was rescued from store by John Snasdell, and bought over to the UK as a shunting locomotive. There was an incident that happened as she was delivered though, as the loader that carried her rounded the curve to put her on the rails, the top of her cab slammed into a thick tree branch, knocking her steam bell loose.

Everyone thought nothing of it, until she started moving under her own power that is. With every sharp puff she made, it made her bell rattle loud enough for anyone within a 70 yard radius to hear. The engines teased her about the bell, nick-naming her "Tink" But the name soon evolved into "Tinkerbell" which is how her name came to be.

Personality-wise, she was somewhat timid of everyone when she first arrived to the railway. Still being rather young, and surrounded by people and engines that didn't understand a word she said had left her feeling rather isolated for the first 2 years, but with the kindness and teachings of two of her new-found friends, Jacks-Green and Derek Crouch, she began to open up like a spring flower, once her language problem was sorted out, she became a lot more social with the other engines as the years went by. Though occasionally, when her emotions got the better of her, she would start talking in her native tongue once again.

By the late 1980's she was taken out of service due to her firebox cracking. She spent the next 16 years left alone in the shed at Wansford, until finally the board of NVR decided to start the process of bringing the little engine back into service. And has remained in pieces for the most part ever since.

Righto, take care all

One of the best things you've ever made Joe.
I can hardly imagine how cute a plushie of her would be.

She's probably the most developed character I've made... which is saying a fair bit.

I wonder if Adolf made it out because he was relegated to pull the undignified passenger trains all one way with cattle cars to remote locations where no one really thanks him for it...

Not to mention how May friends he must have lost...

Smashed a left behind or scrapped because they can't be fixed easily or in time ... How many friends left immobile and pushed aside that he might have just rolled by because duty called...

And after all the loss, after the conflict is over, they decided to scrap virtually all the steam engines that served under threat and somehow were lucky enough to make it out ... And the reward is obsolescence and death.....

No wonder he's so cold ... Poor locomotive...

I dunno why you're asking me about Adolf, I don't own him as an OC .-.

watcher25 [2014-06-27 02:38:37 +0000 UTC]

.... Oh....

That explains a bit...

Although I was comparing her pulling capacity to 1860 American loco's which I feel are a bit different from Danish ones

Still, the Danish built one heck of an engine if the same model was adequate for 50 years until war damage changed the game a bit...

Hmmm.... Bet definitely any engine would find being strafed with armor piercing bullets and blown up by bombs from marauding planes to be one of the worst nightmares ever... Three guesses why there aren't many German locos from the time

XC

But I have a gander that that Adolf one is... Correct?

If so, no wonder he's got an evil glare ... Possibly one of the first engines to feel the lengths of expendability humans can regard things with... Oh... Not to mention "the trains" .... The ones that were given president over military ones...

Yeesh...

Oddly enough, we at NVR have one of the few German engines that DIDN'T get blown up by the British or American airforce .c.;

Adolf's got what I like to call the Hanz Zimmer BWAAAAAARM stare.

Well the F's are the LNER J72's twins, both designs were designed mere miles from each other, both originated from 1890, both were built again in the 1940s. And looking at them side by side it would look simlar.

awesome little drawing of Tinkerbell TrainBoy656! firstly! good blimey that is one massive dome! secondly that is very good job you have done on the face for her. lastly, top job with the details again! they always surprise me! well done

also if I may ask, in the description "the top of her cab slammed into a thick tree branch, knocking her steam bell loose. " is that part actually true or fiction?

MrJoj In reply to TheRedCrane25 [2013-06-27 22:14:32 +0000 UTC]

Well it is the biggest thing on the boiler Infact I think its the biggest dome in the UK <_>

And yes, it is based on true events. Although the problem was fixed before she entered service, I'd like to pretend it remained untouched, therefore giving her her nickname.

who knows? it could be?

oh I see! a very clever I idea you have there I must admit!

According to her engineering drawings, she's wider than a great western King and thanks to her funnel she's as tall as one... Yet she's no bigger than an LNER J72 length-wise <_> The facts about this engine's size makes my head melt.

Well the thing is when the book is released the stories will be based roughly around stories that actually happened in nene valley's early years.

Well the overhaul has stalled and Tinkerbell has been shunted into store. So now's the perfect time to get started in setting up the support page. We have a year to set up over £50K which in locomotive overhaul's is relatively cheap.
