How come she didn't hit every bridge, signal, signal gantry, gantry signal box, and the other tunnel outside of knapford? (That tunnel isn't there in the TV series.

this makes me wonder if an FPA-4 could've fit in that tunnel, let alone a royal Hudson...

No, more she smashed her head on the roof of Henry's tunnel when she tried to go THROUGH it.
She too big!

Well, this should teach American's a lesson. to cut engines down to size.

Well I wouldn't say that.
I'd say that your engine might not be able to go as many places and you thought...!

Still, I'd say little engines are much better.

I don't know if anyone else has commented this, but the GS-4 4-8-4s were from the Southern Pacific, not the Union Pacific.

Interestingly, the Southern Pacific was eventually bought out by the Union Pacific in 1996. Though technically, Denver and Rio Grande Western purchased the Southern Pacific company in 1988, but chose to identify as the latter, and then that company was bought by UP eight years later.
The more you know!

Then there's the fact that American engines would be too big for British turntables too, meaning unless you had a balloon loop or a triangle, you couldn't turn them, either. lol

and so Erika fucking destroyed the Sudrian rail network. Signals and workmen went under as her tender squashed all hell flat.

I, like everyone else, find this to be a good joke for the fact that Erika's too big for Henry's Tunnel (As well as going on British rails).
But I have a question to ask. If American trains are not only too big for rails, but too big for tunnels like Henry's, and that Swedish trains like 1178 can barely fit into small tunnels, then how big are Japanese Steam Locomotives compared to British ones. Just wanted to know.

www.flickr.com/photos/5611hong… Well unfortunatly, we only have our French Compound in order to make a comparison, but the thing is the more you look at the this loco, you see where the GWR got their iconic shapes .c. Its THEN you begin to question just how MUCH are our trains actual British engineering and not something from abroad? .c.

there's also this for when Flying Scotsman was on his America Tour when comparing to American engines at the turn of the 20th century, Savannah & Atlanta 750 was built in 1910 for the Florida East Coast Railway (who surprisingly still survives today and is looking to bring back passenger service), she was sold to the S&A in 1937 and worked there until she was retired in I believe 1954 (I could be wrong about retirement date) www.railpictures.net/images/d1…

MrJoj In reply to DragonMasterAndrew [2014-04-14 13:58:07 +0000 UTC]
Well actually fun fact, the GWR ordered a French atlantic for running trials, and the GWR copied that loco into their own designs, so everything that was great about the GWR and LMS originated from the French!

HAHA!! That got a good laugh out of me.
I know that in real life engines like the 4449 would be next to impossible to operate there, but sometimes it's nice to look pass that issue and just have some fun with it.

LOLZ. You drew her just fine and I love the fact that you got her pistons looking all lovely. Just one thing. Erika's a Southern Pacific engine, not a UP, though that did make me laugh whether or not it was intentional. XD
