On the side view, make rin's bow more concave. on the back view, make the hair a bit more layered, and less 'zoidberg' looking. :3

Ho I'm sorry, English is not my primary language and I couldn't figure out all your suggestions.^^'
What do you mean by bow? Is it the belly zone? You would suggest me to make her thinner?
What would you mean by layered and zoidberd? Do you mean they are too symmetrical / similar and that they come too much from the same point?

The bow is the thing on top of her head.
Make her hair more natural looking.

Thanks for the precision. I have tried to improved them and here is the result if you would like to see : [link]

Oh I think that looks super great! I mostly find nice models f Miku but this is a great one of Rin!
May I download it and try it out on Maya?

MrSide In reply to Nathalie35 [2011-09-20 01:54:30 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I couldn't find any good model of Rin either, and worst, I couldn't find any good reference image of her either. But since the deviantart community is so great, I've manage to get one anyway. ^^
For the model, sure, I would be pleased to send it to you but I've got some problem with exporting to other programs, I am using Blender not Maya =/. So send me a way to give you the model and I'll try to figure out a way to make a non-corrupted obj file.

well I asked my teacher an he told me how to import blender made .obj models into Maya.
So I guess maybe you could email it, my email is amethystdreamernat@gmail.com

Are you planning to make a modeling of Luka and Ren too? I like the headset, really nicely done. The ribbon in her hair is just a litle bit too mmmh.... Solid? Thin? Well it's just the 3rd pose where she is looking left you only see a line instead of a ribbon. For the hand i dont see much of a problem its actually about the best hand i've seen. Oh well Keep up the good work, looking forward to see this lil gril animated. ^^

MrSide In reply to Managuan6 [2011-09-19 16:54:02 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, and of a lot of other vocaloΓ―ds too but I probably won't make them soon as I realysed that this simple model of Rin here will probably take ma a month to complete. 2 weeks on the modeling, one week on the texture and one week on the rigging and that is if I don't experience difficulties which I will probably encounter. So as it is quite long and takes a lot of time, I will probably only finish Rin, maybe Model Ren and then switch to something else for a while.
For the ribbon, I had the intention to try sculpting it but I'm not too sure it's a good idea now so we'll see about that.
Thanks for the input!

Ren? Why! Make Luka instead! She's a lot... harder to make than Ren! Ahem not really a good reason huh? ^^'

Yeah, I prefer luka as well, but already provided me a reference image and I can't make a model without these.
...
And I don,t have any of Luka. =/ But don,t you worry, I shall make her someday.^^

wow! hands are hard to draw, i can't imagine how much of a pain it'll be to model them DX
looks good! better than i can do XD

MrSide In reply to XMegantronX [2011-09-19 16:44:05 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but I think those are the... fourth one I did? So it's starting to enter my brains and hands. Won't say it's easy though, it still is a pain. The worst thing is that I used a specific way to model them to ensure that the deformation while animating will be best, so that's a lot of work added.
If you are interested, I highly recommend you to watch this tutorial about the optimal hand topology by Johnathan Williamson on blender Cookie : [link]
Thanks for the input.

And just in case you were wondering, I do have more than one brain. So I did not make a mistake in my last post.

Okay, you have a lot to know but don't worry, I'll give you some great link.
The best examples of how to model I can give you are those two videos :
[link]
[link]
I have learned watching the first but I recommend you the second one as the author uses a reference picture. The two are good though. However I have to warn you, making a human model isn't the easiest task to start with. It doesn't mean you can't do it, only that it might be hard and you might not be 100% satisfied with the result. If it's the case, don't worry, the second one will be better.
As you seam to start, I will send you to great websites to learn how to do great stuff in Blender. Be sure to check them out and try some tutorials.

With those, some works and a little bit of chance you should be on a great start to make awesome stuff in 3D. Furthermore, if you have some problems or things you don't understand, please feel free to contact me and ask me questions. Il really enjoy helping the new users.^^
Hope that helped you and have a great day!
