Description Hi everyone!

So this is a 25mm anti-air Japanese turret that I made for me demo reel. It will be used as part of the Yamato ship I am modeling in Blender.

Hope you like it and your critics are welcome.^^

Have a great day and a half.

As a builder of 1/700 Waterline ship models from the big 4 Japanese molders, I cant tell you how many of these things I glued and painted !

Wow, you've work on some of these?I'm surprised, never expected to met someone who would have worked on one. Are they still being manufactured?

They are, although the big thing (no pun intended) is now 1/350 scale ships. Really big and expensive kit projects, lots of aftermarket parts like wooden decks, lighting kits, turned brass barrels for guns etc. Great if building for museums, a bit much for home collecting or gaming.

Okay! You're building smaller versions, I haven't understand that the first time. I though you were making real turret for war and all.^^'
Surprisingly (or not) I have used a lot of smaller replicate as reference to make this one. It is always surprising to see the amount of detail those smaller versions have.

If I answer "a lot", would it be okay to you or you'd like a more precise number?

Thanks!

And don't give up! Keep watching tutorials and you should start to figure it out. Here's some nice website that should be able to help you if you're a starter with the software :

[link] << A great website to learn how to make professional stuff, isn't focused on the modeling though.
[link] << the forums of blender. Perfect place to ask questions.^^
[link] << Blender cookie, great place to start, has a lot of great tutorial.
[link] << the "get started" page of blender cookie, a bit hard to find.

Good luck.

Wow, very nice details! Yamato, you say? Then you have a lot of modeling ahead... I look forward to seeing it done!

PS: Blender interface is awesome & quick, it's the other 3D apps interfaces that are lame and slow

I share this opinion too. Being "forced" to use 3ds Max in my classes, I honestly prefer Blender's interface a lot. That said, they're still a lot of people that really don't like it, so there must still be some things to improve. My opinion on the matter is that the hardest part is to learn and discover the shortcuts. Once you know them, this little software is your best friend.^^

Yup, there will be a lot of work in this piece.^^ I've already done a bunch but there's still LOTS of work left to do.XD So far I'm not getting tired/demotivated so I guess it's all good.

Hope the next updates will please you as this one and thanks for your comment.

It just looks so confusing, I've got no clue where to begin. I've looked at a few tutorials, but goodness... Blender has one heck of an interface.

I've always like this software even when I just started it but it was the first "professional" software I've ever used so I didn't have lots of references. But trust me, you're not the first one to have difficulties with that interface, lots of people dislike it at first sight.XD
