Toph Bei Fong: Avatar The Last Airbender CostumeCostume was made from altered patters and winging it. I used Silk Noil for the soft garments. I hand dyed white silk to get that perfect yellow and I found green silk the right shade. I used saddle grade leather for the belt and cufts. Actually it was left over from my Astrid costume. I dyed it a darker brown.
The wig was made by me and my hair stylist. Head piece was made by me.
Note on Contact Lenses! I DID TRY TO LOCATE prescription lenses that had that "blind-clouded" look. I myself need lenses since I have pretty bad eye sight. Not as bad as Toph. But, unable to find affordable lenses that had a prescription I decided that actually being able to see and function in the costume was more important than having the "cloudy" lenses. I am still on the search for the lenses.

That is so cool that I found you- you were easily my favourite cosplayer that weekend- well, you and the guy who was playing Galactus! Are you going this year? I would have to take holidays from work but I might, I don't think SDCC is in the cards for me this year, I went in 2010 and would love to go back but, babies.

I am going to CCEE again this year! I am working on a couple new costumes, do not have a definitive list of what I am going to bring, but it will be about 4! SDCC is awesome, went back in 2007. It was really fun and huge! I do want to go back someday.

Four? Sweet! Is Toph one, or all new? Are they secret? I'm still thinking about taking holidays and heading down for it. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law and his family are there so it's never a wasted trip.

I don't think the lenses are too critical, sure to be completely accurate but the hair obscures the eyes anyways. Nice work!
