Description "Seed Bomb" is a tribute to Guerrilla Gardening that, according to Wikipedia, "is political gardening, a form of direct action, primarily practiced by environmentalists. It is related to land rights, land reform, and permaculture. Activists take over an abandoned piece of land which they do not own to grow crops or plants. Guerrilla gardeners believe in re-considering land ownership in order to reclaim land from perceived neglect or misuse and assign a new purpose to it. Seed bombs are handmade from a mixture of eco-friendly, locally sourced and recycled materials such as egg boxes, shredded office paper, organic compost and flower seeds, nothing combustible!" The Guerrilla Gardener simply tosses one of these friendly eco-bombs into a dull and lifeless area to turn it green hopefully stopping or at least arresting urban decay with a small random act of beauty.

Thanks so much for the comment! I think it's a great cause too. I was really happy when I found out that San Fransisco just got their very first gumball-style seedbomb vending machine [link] Too cool!

A beautiful image and a beautiful idea! I love the tilting, almost-falling buildings, and especially the way the human stands out in that stark black ink. Nifty stuff!

A positive action against a negative effect.

That depends on your perspective. So you are saying it's o.k. because the ends justify the means? I will say that at least this is doing something more concrete than turning off ones lights, though.

Hmmmm....okay it looks like your spoiling for some controversy here. Birds have been doing this very thing without causing the question to be raised as to whether or not the ends justify the means. Granted humans are not birds but to mimic their seed propagating behavior is not a negative thing when it comes to fostering beneficial plant growth. I think you will find very little support in championing trash laden abandoned property and inner city dead zones.
As to turning off ones lights...it can be a beneficial behavior esp. if other electricity draining devices are included in that behavior as well...for those unconcerned with the environment this is at least a cost effective means of running both household and business.
