Companion piece to that Spyro I posted the other day! I'm trying to get better at drawing dragons, so I'm practicing a bunch by drawing Spyro characters as how they'd appear in the Legends campaign! uwu Not all of them are dragons, of course, but the ones that are..... I gotta practice. So: baby girl Cynder, AKA my favorite Spyro character of all time besides the little boy himself. This is how I imagine her as a grownup.

So, fun story, the Legends campaign is based on a rewrite I'm doing of the Legend of Spyro series, as I've mentioned, and as a fun fact, Cynder here inspired the entire rewrite! Because I have gripes about her design changes!! Because these changes have serious implications about her as a character!!

To explain: in the Legends series, it's established that purple dragons are only born once every ten generations. So, Spyro is the only dragon explicitly referred to as being purple. And Cynder is a black dragoness with pink/red accents. EXCEPT IN DAWN OF THE DRAGON SHE'S SUDDENLY PURPLE. Like, still undeniably a black dragon, but her scales have a definite dark purple tint. I remember I was infodumping about Spyro to my partner and they pointed this out, and we came up with this idea that, like. It completely contradicts canon, but what if Cynder is actually much older than Spyro or even the other adult dragons in the series? What if she was the purple dragon before Spyro, but she was captured as a child and brainwashed and corrupted until she became the Corrupted Cynder seen in the first game. However, she never actually aged while in this form--mentally and physically, she's still a child. So only once she's freed of corruption is she able to age properly, and she's effectively the same age as Spyro. It's a li'l complicated and I'm still working out the details, but. Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

Also I've been considering whether or not I want Spyro and Cynder to be together romantically in my rewrite, just 'cause of the age difference. Age difference doesn't bother me as long as all characters involved are of age, but these characters areN'T. They're mentally and physically the same age, Cynder's only TECHNICALLY much older, it's just. Something I've been thinking about. Idk, maybe like. Once they're both fully mature adults?? That'd probably be the best route. Idk, I'll figure it out.
