A little comic I did for my wife for Christmas. Our son Max is autistic, and can only say a few words. That doesn’t stop him from trying to communicate with us through his laughing, his crying, and his awesome hugs!Related content

Oh my gosh! I LOVE this. We have three boys on the spectrum and our youngest has apraxia as well and is nonverbal. We've found the same thing - he finds so many ways to speak to us!!!!

We have an Autistic son who is now 7, and he didn't speak until he was 4 (Even then it was only scripting). I can entirely relate to this and it's wonderful for families like ours to see our children portrayed in beautiful art <3

Oh my lord, this is just too beautiful. The story behind this is poignant and sweet, and this whole work is filled with so much emotion. I have a younger brother who is mostly non verbal, and it's good to know that there are other people who understand that speaking isn't the only way to communicate.
If you haven't heard of the poetry book "I'm in Here," I strongly suggest you take a look at it. It's poetry written by a nonverbal woman. It's gorgeous and very inspiring. Thank you for this beautiful work, and keep your chin up! Your son loves you.

As a note, I have Asperger's Syndrome, which is a high-functioning form of autism, and ironically, my inability to communicate clearly at times (I can talk and do so, but my tact meter is severely broken) has strongly contributed to my love of writing and near-obsession with clearer communication.
