1117,Speaking of M.Doves,one visited my window
ledge this afternoon and chilled there for about
twenty minutes(helping itself to both seeds &
cracked corn!!!)!!! I'am hoping in the future to be
serenaded by a pair of mournful cooers!!! D

Yes There is a light blue or white ring around the eyes.

NICE PIC!!! doves really do make cute couples! only oth bird couples that cancompete in my mind are cardinals.

1117,Terrific Pic!!! Unlike Starlings(they're not even a
native species,some idiot from Europe brought them
across the Pond!!!)I love Mourning Doves,those soul-
ful coos & whistling wingbeats...a couple visited my
feeders and window ledge frequently but I haven't
seen them for a number of years... !!! D-bert

I loooooove the wing beat. I think my resident doves (I have two pair) are even getting a bit used to me. They were always so shy and now they don't fly away as soon as they see me. Yay! I read that these guys are usually a nuisance at feeders, but I don't see it. All they do is hang out on the ground and eat what has dropped. I have no problems with that!

I hope yours come back. They really are a pleasure to have a quite the "hidden" beauty.

aparently the guy who brought thos effing starlings over did b/c he was a shakespear freak and he wanted to bring over all the birds mentioned in his plays! XD
