This looks very good.
I've got a problem with creating backgrounds. When I try I'm never happy enough with it and it never fits the character I made.
How did you do this one? I mean how did you come up with this one and where did you go from there?

Im actually really exited with the result
It's hard to say really. It's praticing and not giving up i think.
I did this only from my mind, all from scratch.
Maybe a bit of LOTR and some World Of Warcraft in mind while listning to the Star Wars soundtracks hehehe. I know...complete mess lol
I believe all of that influenced me, and i ended with this matte painting
But to be honest with you, some good music (soundtracks if you like movies; instumental is more likely 'cause it doesnt drive your attention on anything but what your doing) and helps you get in the mood or atmosphere of the painting.
Set your guidelines for perpectives, then the elements of what you want to do; what you want to show in the painting, set the basic colors and the lighting you want it to have and play along with that.
And never stop looking at pictures...all kinds of pictures of backgrounds, landscapes, etc.
Unconsciouly, your mind memorizes some.
Oh my! i think i wrote way too much here.

Well with the soundtracks I'm ok then.
LOTR or SW
Some game soundtracks are good listening too you know.
I'll start with something else other then a character sometime. See where that will take me.
